So Amelia was counting on Emily Carter to step in and show some manly vibes. But when

she turned her head, Emily was already nowhere to be seen!

Isla’s mouth twitched hard and she muttered under her breath, “Looks like we’re on our own.”

“Seems like it,” Amelia responded, cracking open two beers, handing one to Isla with a cheeky

grin before turning to Dominic Jordan. She flashed a sweet smile, laying it on thick: “Zizi, look

at this drink–it looks fancy and expensive! Anyone who can afford stuff like this must be a

big shot in Heliovard.”

“Maybe even bigger than Damien Taylor himself!”

That last line clearly hit the sweet spot–Dominic lit up and gave Amelia another look over.

After all, not just anyone dared to say something like that.

“Heh, girl, do you even know who Damien Taylor is? If he heard what you just said, trust me,

you’d be toast in Heliovard.”

Amelia grabbed Isla’s hand to keep herself from cracking up.

With a fake innocent look, she asked, “Damien Taylor? Never heard of him.”

Dominic smugly flipped his hair, “Not surprised. Girls at your level probably wouldn’t even

catch a glimpse of someone like Damien.”

“Then I guess you must be tight with him, huh?” Amelia asked.

There was a pause–Dominic’s confidence wavered just a bit. “Of course I am.”

That bit of conversation actually eased Amelia and Isla’s hearts a little. Somehow, talking

reduced some of the tension.

“Babygirl, you look like you’re dying to meet Damien Taylor. How about your friend sticks with

me? I’ve got connections. I can get you girls a meeting with him, how’s that sound?” Dominic

suggested, clearly eyeing Isla with bad intentions. He’d been wanting her for a while, and this

He slammed his drink down hard on the table.

“No more chitchat! Drink up, or don’t blame me for not being a gentleman!”

“Wow, seriously? You’re a dude bullying two girls? That’s just pathetic.”

A sudden voice cut in, and someone shoved past Dominic’s cronies, plopping himself right

between Dominic and Isla like he owned the place.

“I’ll drink.”

Amelia and Isla looked up–and couldn’t believe their eyes. It was Liam Taylor.

Dominic, nearly shoved off the bench, looked absolutely ticked off and glared at Liam. “And

who the hell are you supposed to be? Trying to play knight in shining armor?”

Liam raised a finger and waved it dramatically, totally over–the–top.

“She’s my second brother’s wife. And this girl right here is…”

“His girlfriend!” Isla blurted out, figuring if she gave off “taken” vibes, Dominic would back off.

Liam gasped and glanced at her in surprise, eyes practically saying, “I knew you were into my

stunning looks all along!”

Rolling her eyes, Isla pinched Liam’s arm hard and hissed, “Play along or I’ll murder you right

here.”

Caught in the act, Liam had no choice but to throw his arm around her. “Yep, she’s my girl.”

Watching their impromptu little skit, Amelia nearly broke from laughing–she was legit

holding it in like her life depended on it.Dominic Jordan’s face twisted with rage after being

interrupted. He glared at Liam Taylor, practically ready to strangle him. “Alright, since you

know both of them so well, then bottoms up–two full glasses!”
