Chapter 223

Before losing Consciousness, Amelia Johnson clearly remembered feeling someone trailing her. She even tried to shake them off. Who would’ve thought they had a backup plan?

Talk about layers–she really walked straight into a trap.

“How much are they paying you? I’ll double it,” Amelia cut straight to the chase.

She knew these guys were probably just after money.

The men looked at each other, amused. This woman was really something. But none of them

believed she could actually afford the price.

“Heh, we’re not in it for the cash. We want you,” one bulky guy sneered, his tone full of lust.

The other two grinned and nodded.

“Yeah, money’s whatever. But a hot babe like you? Face like an angel, body like a devil–none of us ever had that kind of luck.”

Amelia swallowed hard, trying to keep it together. She forced herself to stay calm and kept going.

“Look, I’ll give you whatever amount you want. With that money, you guys can get all the gorgeous women you want. And let’s be real–if you lay a hand on me, that’s serious time. But spare me, and tell me who sent you? I’ll let it slide. No charges.”

“Rich and no jail time. That’s gotta sound good, right?”

That last line clearly made an impact. The men hesitated.

…but too bad. They still shook their heads.

“Sounds nice, but rules are rules. We’ve got a job, and we gotta see it through.”

Amelia was honestly speechless. What kind of old–school loyalty nonsense was this?

“Alright, enough talking. We don’t got all day.”

“But hey, since you’re this pretty, we’ll make sure it’s a night you’ll never forget,” one of them said, grinning wickedly as they stood up and closed in.

Her whole body trembled uncontrollably as fear wrapped around her like a cold chain. In her mind, only one name flashed over and over again–Damien Taylor. Please, let him get here fast!

She’d just texted Emily Carter. If Emily noticed she didn’t reply back, she’d definitely figure something was wrong and find Damien.

Chapter 223

“Rrrrip!”

The sound of tearing fabric.

A chill hit her chest, and that’s when panic fully took over. She thrashed like mad–scratching,

kicking, completely losing it.

Her eyes burned red as she screamed, “Get away from me! Don’t touch me!”

The guys froze for a second, unsure of how to make a move.

Until one of them, the more aggressive type, slapped her hard across the face.

A red, stinging handprint instantly appeared on her pale cheek, and the right side of her face

started to swell.

The pain made tears blur her vision, but her glare never wavered.

“If you touch me, my boyfriend will kill you. Literally.”

The men cracked up.

“Your boyfriend? One dude against the three of us? Please.”

“Keep running that mouth and we’ll knock you out. Then take our time.”

The one who hit her already grabbed a wooden stick, waving it with a wicked grin.

“You’ve got two choices. Either enjoy it awake, or we knock you out and you enjoy it in your dreams.”

Just when Amelia hit rock bottom-

-BANG!

The door burst open.

Light poured in, forcing her to squint.

And in the dark stood a tall, familiar figure. The man’s face was twisted like some demon straight

out of hell.

“Damien!”

The fear and despair crashing over Amelia Johnson suddenly felt a little lighter.

Behind Damien Taylor came a group of trained guys who didn’t waste a second–three moves and the muscle–bound men were all taken down.

When Damien took off his jacket and gently wrapped it around her, that’s when Amelia finally broke

down. She threw herself into his arms, crying like her heart was shattered.

She’d really been terrified out of her mind just now.

If those men had actually managed to touch her… she wouldn’t have the courage to face Damien

She couldn’t live like that. If Damien hadn’t shown up, she’d rather have died than live through it

Damien held her tightly, noticing how her body was still trembling nonstop. He rubbed her back gently, voice low and comforting. “It’s okay now. I’m here. No one’s going to touch you ever again.”

Her murmured his name in her sleep, and he immediately gripped her hand, soft and steady. “I’m here, right here. You’re safe now.”

Maybe she heard him, because her furrowed brows slowly relaxed.

Close to dawn, his phone pinged. A message from his assistant.
