Chapter 226-1
Clar
Sabrina Johnson knew exactly what Patricia Collins meant, so before they headed out, she ducked into the bathroom and made a call to Grace Williams, asking Richard Johnson to get Amelia
Johnson over.
With Amelia there, the jewelry shop might give them a better deal–definitely a way to save big.
When Richard called, Amelia wasn’t thrilled about it, but after hearing the full story, she reluctantly agreed. She smirked, thinking, “Hope you won’t regret dragging me into this.”
At the Taylor Jewelry store-
By the time Amelia arrived, Patricia and Sabrina had already picked out a bunch of stuff, as if
Amelia was just showing up to swipe the card.
“You’re here, sis! Come sit, you must be exhausted, right?” Sabrina was acting unusually sweet
lately, like she’d morphed into someone else entirely.
She honestly felt like she’d been treating Amelia remarkably well recently–it even moved her a little. She figured Amelia would finally change her opinion, maybe even be nice back.
Amelia gave a half–smile. “Yeah, real tired. Especially since you dragged me here.”
Sabrina laughed awkwardly and quickly switched topics. “Sis, check out these pieces! Aren’t they stunning? All picked by Mrs. Collins–she’s got such great taste!”
Being complimented, Patricia couldn’t help raising an eyebrow smugly, clearly pleased.
Amelia sat back, laid–back and calm, her clear voice lowering a notch. “Pretty or not isn’t the point -they’re pricey. Must mean Mrs. Collins really dotes on you. You’re not even married yet, and she’s already willing to drop big bucks.”
“As your big sis, I’m honestly happy for you. That’s a solid in–law family you’ve got there.”
Then, right before Patricia’s stunned gaze, Amelia told the staff to have everything boxed up. She turned with a warm grin to Patricia, “You’ve splurged so much today, I bet Damien Taylor would be
thrilled if he found out.”
Patricia looked like she just swallowed a cactus–couldn’t say a word, terrified she’d accidentally
offend Damien somehow.
Staring at Amelia’s smiling face, then glancing at Sabrina, Patricia suddenly felt like she’d been conned by the two of them–tag teamed with no way out.
Fuming, Patricia finally had no choice but to foot the bill and storm out of the store.
Right before leaving, she shot a look at Sabrina. “You’ve really made my day!”
“Hey–wait for me!” Sabrina stomped her foot and ran after her in a fluster.
Amelia leaned lazily on the counter and asked the clerk, “So, how much exactly?”
