Chapter 225-2
Chapter 225-2
Amelia rubbed her eyes, her voice half–asleep and soft like a kitten, “Mmm, let’s eat!”
Still in a bit of a daze, she followed Damien out. During dinner, she was either randomly spacing out or giggling to herself, and in the end, before she’d even swallowed her food, she just dozed off+
right there, mid–bite.
Damien reached out just in time to catch her before she could slump over completely. He carefully
held her up so she wouldn’t fall awkwardly.
Looking at her peacefully sleeping face, with faint dark circles under her eyes, Damien felt a pang in his chest. He assumed she hadn’t slept well because she was upset over that thing, blaming
himself for not being there to comfort her.
Then again, she’d told him not to. Said it super seriously–if he dared come over secretly, she’d be
mad.
Honestly, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Gently, Damien removed the half–eaten food from her mouth to make sure she wouldn’t choke–a small thing, but dangerous if left be.
Then he drove her back to Taylor Manor.
After tucking Amelia into bed upstairs, he went down to find Emily Carter. “Hey, do you know what Summer’s been up to lately? She actually fell asleep while eating.”
Emily shook her head, looking puzzled. “Not really. She’s been locking herself in her room. Barely eats even when I call her. But mood–wise, she seems fine.”
If she’d seemed off, Emily would’ve dragged her out of there already.
Not getting any answers, Damien went back upstairs to stay with Amelia. When she finally woke up in the middle of the night, the first thing she did was grin sleepily and say, “I had a dream you took
me out for dinner…”
Damien could only sigh and gently pinch her cheek. “Bet you’re hungry, huh? I’ll fix you something
to eat.”
“Mhm. I’m starved.” She nodded like a kid and yawned, then shuffled off to wash up in her slippers.
Meanwhile, over at the Collins household.
A housekeeper quickly entered the living room and said to Patricia Collins, “Ma’am, Miss Sabrina Johnson is here again.”
Sabrina had been coming over almost daily this week, trying hard to please Patricia by going
shopping with her–anything to keep her engagement to Ethan Collins on track.
Patricia gave a faint nod, clearly less warm than before.
Sabrina, loaded with tonics and looking sweet as ever, said, “Aunt Patricia, I brought you some
snow fungus today–it’s really great for your health.”
