Chapter 61 Fortune master-1

Amelia Johnson said in a flat tone, “I’ve made myself perfectly clear.”

Ethan Collins replied, “I’m sorry. I was wrong to not trust you.”

“Relationships should be about feelings don’t even remember us holding hands. So really, what exactly are you holding on to?” Amelia was genuinely confused.

“It was my fault before, but we can fix things. We can try to connect-”

“There’s no fixing it,” Amelia cut him off.

“What will it take for you to forgive me?” Ethan asked.

“Ethan, I’m not mad at you,” Amelia said quietly. “So what’s there to forgive? There’s nothing between us anymore. So please, just stop bringing this up, alright?”

Ethan sounded frustrated now. “Amelia, do you have to be so stubborn? I’ve already apologized-can’t you just give a little?”

Amelia chuckled, a little sarcastically. “You seriously think I’m doing this just to get back at you?”

“Isn’t that it? I already gave you an out. If you don’t take it now, that’s on you,” Ethan said, his tone laced with warning.

Amelia could only sigh. “Well then, sorry to disappoint. You can keep the ‘out’ for someone else. Calling off the engagement? That’s exactly what I wanted. Confidence is good, but being full of yourself? Not so much.”

“Hey Summer, what’s up?” Richard Johnson had just gone to bed.

“Dad, just wanted to let you know I’m not coming home tonight,” Amelia said.

“I already know. Damien told me earlier,” Richard said.

Amelia was a bit surprised-she didn’t expect Damien to mention it. “I’m staying at my cousin’s place,” she added quickly, not wanting him to know she and Damien were under the same roof. It’s easier to just say friend.

“As long as you’re happy. With Damien there, I’m not worried,” Richard replied warmly. “And hey, you really handled things well tonight. You’re growing up, Summer-makes your dad proud. But since when did you learn how to play piano? I don’t recall that.”

“I picked it up when I was staying in the countryside. I only learned that one piece, so I didn’t really bring it up,” Amelia explained.

After hanging up, her eyes drifted to the wall where a painting caught her attention. She was sure it hadn’t been there the last time she visited. “That painting…”
