Amelia Johnson instantly pulled her hand back, remembering what Damien Taylor had said-no getting too close to other guys. She’d promised him herself, and now she’d just gone back on her word.

Amelia bit her lip, looking like she was walking into a death sentence. “Emily, if I don’t survive this, light me a few extra suns tomorrow, okay?”

She hurried after Damien. When they reached a spot away from the crowd, Damien suddenly grabbed her hand.

“Mr. Taylor, I swear it won’t happen again, really-” Amelia’s eyes widened. Wait, was he… licking her finger?

A strange warmth spread from her fingertip, creeping all the way into her chest.

Damien’s brows were furrowed, his eyes warm with concern. “How’d you get hurt? You need to be more careful.”

“Huh? I’m hurt?” Amelia looked down and saw a faint cut on her left index finger, just barely bleeding. It wasn’t serious.

She suddenly remembered-she probably scraped it banging on that busted wooden door earlier.

“Clumsy girl,” Damien said, a rare softness in his tone. “Come on, I’ll take you to the nurse.”

Amelia didn’t consider herself a fool, but somehow, in front of Damien, she always turned into some ditzy

mess.

Still, she wondered-if there’s a nurse’s office, why was he licking her finger just now?
