Chapter 75 Crossdressing

Mr. Starr stood outside the door, clearly both excited and a bit on edge. “Hi, are you Mr. Leaf?”

Amelia Johnson stepped aside and lowered her voice on purpose. “Mr. Starr, come on in.”

As soon as he walked in, he asked, “Mr. Leaf, may I ask when Mr. Joey will be arriving?”

She looked at him and said flatly, “I am Joey. And don’t call me ‘Mr., that’s too formal.”

“You’re Joey?” Mr. Starr squinted at her, looking skeptical.

“Want me to sketch a bit right now to prove it?” she offered casually.

Mr. Starr hesitated. If this guy actually turned out to be Joey, wouldn’t he seem.rude for doubting him?

But before his thoughts could settle, Amelia had already finished the sketch.

“This is definitely Mr. Joey’s style!” Mr. Starr lit up. He looked embarrassed. “Mr. Joey, I’m really sorry. You just look nothing like I’d imagined, so I wasn’t sure.”

“It’s fine, I get it,” Amelia nodded lightly.

“Hope you don’t mind me asking-how old are you?”

“Fifty,” she answered dead-serious.

“No way! You look way too young!” Mr. Starr gasped.

Amelia gave a small cough. “Sorry, I’ve got a flight to catch, I should be heading out soon.”

“That’s really a shame. Let’s set up another time.”Mr. Starr held his stomach. “Mr. Joey, would you mind if I used the bathroom real quick?”

“Not at all. But the toilet’s broken, maybe better to try somewhere else,” Amelia replied as calmly as she could.

“No worries, I don’t mind.” He made a beeline for the bathroom-clearly couldn’t hold it anymore after all that water.

“Wait-” Amelia tried to stop him, but it was already too late.

As soon as he opened the door, Mr. Starr immediately backed out, flustered. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t know someone was in there. I’ll find one outside. Let’s catch up another time.”

Then he bolted out-clearly on the edge of a bladder emergency.

After he left, Amelia walked into the bathroom-and nearly jumped.

In his panic, Emily Carter had thrown on Amelia’s coat, pulled her hat low, and turned his back toward the door to hide himself.

Amelia gave him a long stare. “Dude, what are you doing? Crossdressing now?”

“Gone,” Amelia replied.

Amelia rolled her eyes. “You’re really pushing it with this stunt. What if it backfires?”

Emily grinned. “Come on, I’m just trying to match your energy. Look at you, totally nailing this whole’ pretend guy’ act.”

Amelia flexed her wrist, making her joints crack. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten-this is all because you agreed to meet Mr. Starr in the first place. I wouldn’t even be in this situation otherwise.”

Meanwhile, in the stairwell, Sabrina Johnson was on the phone. “Ethan, I just saw my sister going into a hotel room with two guys.”
