Chapter 80 Threw the glass

Jack chuckled, “Just trying to look out for the junior.”

Amelia shot Jack a thankful glance and downed her drink.

Sophia didn’t say anything else, but the knot of resentment inside her started tightening again.

Back in the day, she was the undisputed star of University College Moon-both brains and beauty. But ever since Amelia showed up, everything changed. She got overshadowed in every way.

Years had passed, yet Sophia still couldn’t swallow that bitter pill.

Judging by how Amelia looked tonight though, things didn’t seem to be going great for her-nothing on her screamed expensive.

Sophia glanced at her, voice dipped in fake warmth. “So, junior, what line of work are you in now?”

“I, uh… stay at home for now.” Amelia hesitated. She had too much going on-it was hard to pick just one job.

“Must be nice, not having to hustle daily like the rest of us,” Sophia said with a light smile, already deciding Amelia clearly wasn’t doing well.

“What about you?” Amelia asked back, just trying to be polite.

A guy joined in, “You don’t know? Sophia’s a celeb! Starred in several TV dramas and films. You seriously haven’t seen any of them?”

“Oh, I really don’t watch much TV. But I’ll check it out later tonight,” Amelia said honestly. She genuinely had no idea Sophia was famous.

But Sophia thought she was faking ignorance just to embarrass her.

She forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Women should really focus on self-growth. Just staying home, doing nothing-what are you planning? Living off your parents, or going for a sugar daddy?”

Things got awkward real quick.

To ease the tension, Jack handed Amelia a mic. “I picked a song. Wanna do a duet?”

Thing was, Sophia had asked to sing with Jack earlier, but he told her his throat was bothering him. And now he was turning around and inviting Amelia? That cut.

Truth be told, Jack’s throat really wasn’t great, but seeing the awkward vibe, he figured singing might help smooth stuff over.

Most people didn’t think much of it, but Sophia? She was seething.

Amelia had thought Damien might show up, yet over an hour had passed and still-no sign of him.

She got up, heading for the door to give him a call.

Just as she reached the doorway, the private room door swung open-Zoey barged in.

“Move it,” she said, giving Amelia a rough shove.

Strutting in on her high heels, she pouted a bit. “Bro, you’re hanging out here and didn’t even tell me? Had I known I would’ve skipped booking my own room.”

Jack smiled faintly, “You’re always making a scene-I didn’t dare.”

Zoey walked over to Sophia. “Oh hey, you’re here too.”

Sophia pulled Zoey down to sit. “Tired lately, wasn’t planning to come, but your brother insisted.”

“Then take this chance to blow off some steam.” Zoey scrunched her nose. “Not like… certain people who show up where they don’t belong.”

Sophia looked confused. “Who’re you talking about?”

Zoey tilted her head toward the door. “That girl who just stepped out.”

Sophia raised an eyebrow. “You know her?”

“She’s my friend’s sister. Major fake vibes. The classic manipulative type.” Zoey’s tone was icy.

“I’ve always thought she was shady.” Sophia agreed easily.

“Want to mess with her a bit?” Zoey suggested with a smirk.

“What’d you have in mind?” Sophia was more than down.

Meanwhile, Amelia was standing in the hallway, dialing Damien’s number.

“Summer, what’s wrong?” Damien’s voice was gentle,

“Where are you?” Amelia asked flatly.
