Isla gave her a nod. “Sure, as long as you’re ready to work your butt off.”

Amelia straightened up. “I can totally handle fetching water and snacks.”

Isla raised an eyebrow. “How about washing my feet too?”

Amelia narrowed her eyes half-jokingly. “Wait, so those gossip blogs saying you bully staff… they’re not just rumors?”

Since they all lived in different directions, everyone just called their own rides home.

Isla and Emily Carter headed off in their cars. Amelia was still waiting by the curb when her ride canceled last-minute.

Just then, Sabrina Johnson came walking over. “Sis, waiting for your ride? Let’s go home together.”

“Sure,” Amelia agreed, since her own driver had backed out.

Sabrina looped her arm around Amelia’s. “Ethan’s driving. Come on, he’s waiting at the exit.”

As soon as Amelia got in, Ethan Collins frowned. “Amelia, you’ve been drinking, haven’t you?”

“I had a little. Not much,” she replied casually.

“Come on, Sis, you smell like a bar,” Sabrina chimed in, putting on a concerned face. “You can’t let Dad find out. He’ll lose it and ground you for sure.”

Amelia glanced sideways at her. “Then as long as no one says anything, how would Dad ever know?”

Ethan’s tone turned sharp. “Why do you always take chances like this? Just because he doesn’t know, you think it’s fine?”

Amelia explained, “You two got it wrong. I’m just working for her as an assistant, not friends.”

Ethan raised a brow. “Assistant?”

“Yeah,” Amelia played along. “My cousin landed me the job today. Total surprise-it’s crazy I met her in person!”
