Chapter 111 Down in the Garage
Fin Bed
Nora Sinclair! You tricked me again!” Sienna was angry enough to climb through the window and take a swing at her.
Nora waved at her, smiling. “Same trick twice. Have Ms. Blithe take a look at your head and see if anything can be done about the IQ. Bye now. I’m off to split the money with Adrian.”
“Aaaah! Nora Sinclair!”
Sienna had lost it completely and went for the window, and Olivia had to haul her back.
Nora turned to Adrian. “I shilled that for you and drove the price up. Remember to cut me in for half.”
Mandy wasn’t having it. “In your dre—”
Adrian cut her off before the rest got out and nodded at Nora. “Done.”
“How many boxes did you book tonight?” she asked him.
“Four,” Adrian said. “The one next door is empty. Somebody booked two together.”
That gave Nora what she needed. She picked up her bag, walked out, and headed fast for the box at the far end.
She wanted to find the Snowbell Healer.
Is it Grandma, or is it Cordelia?
The door creaked as Nora pushed it open, and she knew the figure standing inside. Her whole face lifted. “Grandma…
“Why is it you?”
The word was barely out of her mouth before the figure turned around.
It was Cordelia.
Her eyes went sharp. “Who else would it be? Do you know whoever made this Clearheart?”
Nora looked around the box and found nobody else in it. “No. I came to see what the Snowbell Healer looks like.”
“I’ve been wondering about that. Why do you never believe I’m the Snowbell Healer?” Cordelia came over and stopped in front of her.
Nora’s brows went up. “There’s no ID card that says Snowbell Healer on it. You say you’re her. I could say I’m her. Anyone can claim it, can’t they?”
Cordelia looked at her. “Once Olivia cures Julian, that will settle all of it.”
That was fair enough. She hadn’t told the world who she was yet.

Nora looked down at the lined old face in front of her. It was kind and gentle to look at, and the calculation sat right there in the eyes.
“Good luck to you, then.” She glanced up and caught a shape slipping past the fire exit.
She left Cordelia standing there and went after it fast.
Olivia stood in the doorway and watched Nora hurry off before she said anything. “Grandma, did you see the fake Snowbell Healer?”
Cordelia shook her head. “No.”
When she came in, there had been one cup of coffee on the table and not a soul in the room.
The boxes came with client privacy, of course, and Adrian was never going to tell her whose it was.
Olivia stamped her foot, furious. “Whoever is passing themselves off as the Snowbell Healer is vicious, dangling a prize like that. I threw away $1,000,000,000 tonight and never laid eyes on anyone!”
And Nora had walked off with $100,000,000 of it! It made her furious.
Olivia set her teeth. “When I find whoever is impersonating my grandmother, I’ll hire the best lawyers in the country. I’ll take everything they own and get them put away for life!”
The death penalty would be better.
Cordelia listened to her run on and felt a headache coming, and her face showed it. “I have no idea where Nora went. Follow her and see. You may turn something up.”
Olivia turned it over. “Could she have set this up herself? Working with somebody to impersonate you, and off splitting the money with them right now?”
The thought sent her straight out the door.
Nora went through the fire exit and followed the shape all the way down to the underground garage.
The garage was empty, and the quiet down there was unnerving.
A harsh, rasping breath broke it, and Nora went straight toward the sound.
A good-looking man in casual clothes lay on the ground, dragging every breath in, soaked through with sweat, the color gone out of his face.
His phone had landed a hand’s width away from him.
Nora looked at him, then at the empty garage, and went over anyway. “Where’s your inhaler?”
The rasp said his airway was closing. He was sweating, his eyelids were swollen, his eyes were bloodshot, and his lips had gone blue.
It was a severe asthma attack, and an inhaler would have taken the edge off it.
His eyes were rolling back and he was close to going under, so there was no chance of an answer.
