Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114 He Believes Her

Inde the study, Nora pulled a drawer open and went looking for the proposal.

At the same time, she caught the faint footsteps outside. She kept her head down and kept searching, watching the doorway out of the corner of her eye.

There was nobody in sight, only the faint edge of a phone camera.

It almost made her smile, and she carried on as though she’d seen nothing, pulling open another drawer/ and muttering over it. “How is the Orion proposal not in here?”

That lit Sienna up.

Nora was an idiot, talking out loud like that. It nailed the whole thing down.

Sienna had been half afraid of an excuse about tidying the study.

Nora went through another drawer, came up with nothing, and gave it up. “Forget it. I’ll stop for now and find a way to ask Julian about it tonight.”

Sienna saw her about to come out, pocketed the phone, and hurried off.

Nora waited on purpose before she stepped into the hall, and by then the corridor was empty.

Her brows went up, and she went back to her own room.

Tucked around the corner, Sienna let out a long breath, gripped her phone, and went straight downstairs.

Constance saw her rushing past with a sheen of sweat on her face and frowned. “What have you been doing? You’re covered in sweat.”

“Grandma, I just…” Then she remembered how much this house believed in Nora, and she changed course. “I ran up the stairs and wore myself out. Something’s come up, I have to go.”

Constance watched her hurry off, then looked up at the second floor, and a frown settled in.

Once she was out of the main house, Sienna thought about it for a long time and decided there was one person she could take it to. She made the call.

Olivia had just finished examining Zane, and she took it anyway. “Sienna, what’s wrong?”

Sienna could hardly get it out. “Olivia, I just… I just filmed Nora going through the study for that project proposal. I told Grandma and she doesn’t believe me. What do I do?”

Olivia sounded genuinely shocked. “She really went after that proposal? Could you have it wrong? Maybe she was tidying up in there.”

Sienna got frantic. “Not you too. You’re taking her side? If I hadn’t heard it and seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe she’d do this either.

“I’ll send you the video and you’ll know I’m telling the truth.”

Olivia had no interest in wading into it. “No, don’t. This is family business. It isn’t my place.

does come back to Jules, though, so don’t panic yet.

“Did she find it?”

Sienna scoffed. “How could she? That’s an ordinary study. Anything confidential sits in the other one, and only Julian and Grandma can get in there.”

Olivia knew about rooms like that. The old families built them, with a code, a fingerprint, and a face scan before the door would open.

The Blithes had one too, though only Cordelia could get into it. She’d never had the clearance herself.

“All you filmed is Nora looking for something in a study the whole house uses,” Olivia said. “She could say she was after her own paperwork, so it doesn’t prove anything yet.

“But this is serious. It crosses into breaking the law. You should tell Jules, and it’s better face to face.

“Let him watch for it. That keeps Nora from doing something she can’t take back, and the two of them can still be all right.”

Sienna heard her out and thought it made perfect sense. “Olivia, you’re too good. Even now you’re thinking about Nora and whether she’ll break the law.”

Olivia smiled, said she had work waiting, and hung up.

Julian came home that night and spotted Sienna waving at him from the roadside long before the car reached the gates. He had Miles pull over and put the window down.

“You’re not at the house. What are you doing out here on the road waiting for me?”

Sienna said it fast. “It’s urgent. I can’t say it in the house.”

“What is it?”

Sienna went straight at it. “I heard Nora today. She’s going to steal the Orion proposal!”

Julian looked at her, doubting all of it, and his eyes went cold. “Sienna. Last time you paid somebody to photograph Nora with Trevor. Are you running the same play again?”

It was obvious he didn’t believe a word of it.

Sienna was frantic. “Not this time. I swear it isn’t…

Julian cut her off, cold. “The last round clearly wasn’t enough. Your cards stay frozen another six months and your allowance drops to $100,000. I’ll tell the family too. Anyone who lends you money gets the same.”

Then, he put the window up and told Miles to drive.

“Julian! Julian!” Sienna could only watch the car pull away, and she stamped her foot.
