Chapter 129 Low Blood Sugar
That was why Adrian couldn’t stand women and had such a serious thing about cleanliness.
So whatever had or hadn’t happened between Mandy and Trevor last night, that one scene alone was enough to turn his stomach every time he looked at her!
Let the two of them tear each other apart.
Nora wasn’t going to say any of it out loud. She only smiled and asked, “Is he still going to marry you and make you Mrs. Pierce? Or should you stop dreaming?”
Mandy glared at her and got it out through her teeth. “Ace isn’t disgusted with me. He never will be! Ace is going to marry me!”
Then, something came to her, and she leaned close to Nora’s ear, delighted with herself, and dropped her voice. “He’s going to hate you and come after you for my sake, and I’m the fake. You’re the one who actually
saved him!”
That has to be killing her. She has to be losing her mind over it.
Nora only smiled at the provocation. “Whether you have it in you to make Adrian lose his mind over you, I’ll be watching with interest.”
Then, she turned and walked off, in no hurry at all.
Mandy watched her go and couldn’t stand it. “The only reason you can act like this is Julian.
“I’m going to make you feel what I felt last night. I’ll let you find out what it’s like to have a man look at you like that!”
She refused to believe Julian would go on believing Nora and spoiling her with no limit on it!
Nora came downstairs, looked up at the sun, and the world tipped. She went over backward.
“Careful.” Adrian saw it, moved fast, and caught her from behind.
The second his hand closed on her arm, her skin crawled under it.
“Don’t touch me!” She knocked his hand off on instinct and pulled back as though she’d been shocked.
Adrian saw how hard the reaction was and frowned as he explained. “I saw you going down. I was steadying you.”
All he’d done was touch her arm, and it got a reaction like that. He wasn’t even the one who should have been disgusted here.
Nora’s head was still swimming. She got herself against a pillar, dug a chocolate out of her bag, and ate it.
The strength came back into her, and she looked up at him. “Thank you.”

Fined
She’d come out without breakfast, and her blood sugar had dropped far enough to leave her shaky and light-headed.
Adian asked after her. “Are you all right? Do you need me to take you to a hospital?”
Nora got another piece out of her bag. “No. It’s low blood sugar. I’ll be fine in a minute.”
Adrian watched her frown her way through the chocolate, and he took a butterscotch candy out of his pocket and held it out to her.
Nora glanced at it. “No, thank you.”
Once she had herself back, she took an antiseptic wipe out of her bag, cleaned the part of her arm he had touched, and walked away.
Adrian’s hand was still out with the candy in it. The look she’d given him stayed with him, and his brows came down hard.
Standing a little way behind them, Mandy watched all of it, and her fists closed and her eyes filled with hate!
Nora sat in the car killing time on a phone game, and she hadn’t been at it long.
Julian got in and turned his head. “Sorry to keep you.”
Nora glanced up at him and went back to the game. “You didn’t. Finished already?”
“They were all people I know. It was a short conversation.”
“Mm.”
Julian was in no hurry to have Miles drive. He watched her play instead, curious, and it turned out to be one of those merge games where finishing tasks unlocks pieces to decorate an estate and outfits for a character.
It was a very young girl’s kind of game.
After a while, he watched her blank the screen. “Why did you stop?”
Nora shrugged. “Out of energy. I’ve watched all the ads.”
“Then buy some energy.” Julian had his phone out as he said it.
Her phone chimed with a message, and when she opened the thread with him, it showed a transfer of $200,000.
She looked over at him, puzzled. “You sent me $200,000 for game energy?”
He doesn’t do anything small.
“Not enough?” Julian asked.
He meant it seriously enough that if she’d said no, another $200,000 would have followed.

an told Miles to drive, then said, “I talked to them for a minute out there. The bid was decided for the Weston Group originally, and then it changed to the Pierce Group and nobody could say why.”
“Hm?” Nora looked over at him.
