Chapter 139 The Photograph
Sinna watched the car go, took her phone out in a rage, and called Julian.
It rang twice before he picked up, and his voice came down the line, cold. “What is it?”
Sienna got it out in a hurry. “Julian, it’s Nora. That bit-”
Julian cut her off, cold. “Watch your mouth. She’s my wife.”

Sienna shivered and changed it, grudging every word. “I saw Nora at Mount Elden. She’s out here in the middle of the night instead of at home, running around with another man. Julian, you have to-”
Julian’s voice came back cold. “Did you see that with your own eyes?”
“No.” It came out small, and then she found her feet again. “But she’s out at this hour, and she isn’t…”
Julian cut her off, out of patience. “You really don’t learn. There’s no allowance this month either. Slander Nora again and watch your tongue.”
He said it coldly and hung up.
Sienna was furious and called back, and it wouldn’t go through. He’d blocked her!
Miles was there with papers for him to sign. “Was that Sienna?”
Julian answered flatly. “She says Nora is at Mount Elden.”
He looked up. “Didn’t Olivia mention a pileup at the races on Mount Elden?”
Miles hesitated. “Yes. She did.”
It had been said barely half an hour ago and it was already out of his head. He really didn’t care in the least where Olivia went.
Julian’s brows came together, and the worry about Nora came with it. “Look into Mount Elden. Get the list of the injured and see whether Nora is on it.”
Miles went to check on it fast.
It wasn’t long before he came back with an odd look on his face. “Mrs. Weston. She is at Mount Elden, and she…”
Julian was on his feet without his jacket and already moving. “Is she hurt?”
Miles saw how fast he’d gone and said it quickly. “No, it’s…”
He didn’t know how to put it, so he handed his phone over. “See for yourself.”
Julian took it, suspicious, and looked at the photo. Everything worried on his face went straight to ice!
It was Ryder kissing Nora’s forehead.

The glow of the fan lights around them made the kiss look like something out of a film, and the two of them looked very well matched.
Hihand closed on the phone until the veins stood up on the back of it, and he turned and asked Miles. cold, “Another one of Sienna’s angles?”
The chill of it went all the way through him, and he answered fast. “No. A woman in the crowd posted that
one.
“The man is Ryder Kane. He’s a driver, and the crash started with him. His car went off the cliff and burned out, and he came away with nothing worse than scrapes.
“Then a fan put that photo up and said he and Mrs. Weston are…”
Miles stopped there, because the cold coming off Julian had gone deeper, as though the whole room had dropped into ice.
He made himself keep going anyway. “He called Mrs. Weston his lucky charm. He says that kiss for luck is the reason he walked away from it.”
Then, he spoke up for her, unsteady. “It really wasn’t Sienna. She can’t know about it yet, or she’d have woken Madam Weston up.”
If she knew, she’d have the photo out to the press that minute, front page, everybody talking, and she’d push until Julian and Nora divorced!
Looking at the air in the room now, Miles was fairly sure his own end was coming.
Why does Mrs. Weston attract this much trouble?
Julian’s voice was cold. “Deal with that photo. Nora doesn’t appear in any story anywhere.”
At least it was very late. The photo couldn’t get out, and Constance couldn’t hear about it.
Miles said yes, then added, “The Kanes have already handled the photo as well.”
Ryder was the Kane heir. After a crash that serious, the last thing he wanted was a headline that had people guessing at a war inside his own family.
And from what Miles had found, he had been the first to have that photo taken down. He wanted it buried.
But Ryder wasn’t from this city, so the job had come out a little short of clean.
Julian only answered coldly. “Clean it up properly.”
Miles understood, and on his way out he couldn’t help asking, “Do you… believe Mrs. Weston?”
Julian’s eyes came at him like a blade. “Nothing better to do?”
Miles felt the edge of something against his neck and said it fast. “I’ll get to work.”
Then, he got out as fast as he could, before the jealousy Julian was holding down with nowhere to put it landed on somebody.
