Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 145

Chapter 145 Into the Pool

raised his voice. “She can’t control her own body. The script has her diving for a ring, not drowning herself. It’s grim to watch!

“One shot of her coming up out of the water, one line to say, and it comes out flat. All that water, and it still isn’t enough to get you wet?”

Sabrina didn’t want the trouble, so she nodded and apologized. “I’m sorry. I’ll do better. I promise it’ll be better next time.”

Nora kept hold of her. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Why are you apologizing to him?”

That last line of his had been a filthy joke, and it was aimed straight at Sabrina.

Nora looked at Gus, cold. “Apologize to her.”

He saw Sabrina apologizing and felt no fear at all of a woman with no name behind her, and it made him bolder. “Sabrina is the one wasting our time and our money. Why would I apologize to her?”

Gus turned to her. “If you really can’t do the work, stop wasting our time. Give up acting and go spread your legs for your sugar daddy. The money comes faster and nobody yells at you.”

The color went out of Sabrina’s face, and she bit her lip. “I don’t have a sugar daddy.”

Gus scoffed at that. “No sugar daddy and you’re fronting Everstone? No sugar daddy and a D-list nobody like you is working opposite Preston?”

Sabrina tried to explain. “That was Mandy Sin-”

Gus cut her off, out of patience. “Enough. Nobody cares whether you have one. Get ready. We’re shooting.

“Loosen up. You’re in the water anyway. Treat it like you’re with your sugar daddy and give me something filthier.

“And if you really can’t do it, then break the contract. Let your sugar daddy pay the penalty. Go home and open your legs a few more times for him and the penalty pays for-”

Gus didn’t finish. Something caught him in the shin, his left leg went out sideways, and the rest of it came out as a yell.

Nora stood over him, and one word came out of her, cold. “Apologize.”

The pain twisted his face. He got himself upright, shaking, with his legs apart because of it, and he shouted at her. “Who the hell do you think you are, telling me to apologize? You’re this eager to protect Sabrina. Do you want her to set you up with a sugar daddy too? Spread your-”

Nora was done reasoning with him. She brought one long leg up between his and kicked out to the sides.

Gus screamed, his legs went into a full split, and the pain took his greasy face apart.

Nora stood over him and asked him, cold, “How does spreading them feel? Comfortable? Do you want them wider?”

Chapter 145 Into the Pool

Gus felt as though his balls were on fire, and he glared up at her through it. “Don’t get cocky. I’ll take this out

Sabrina twice over!”

The last of the color went out of Sabrina’s face, and everything in it gave up.

Nora turned and walked off. Gus took it for fear and was turning to shout something after her.

Instead, something hit him in the small of the back and put him straight into the air. “Aaah-”

The scream went up with him, and then he came down into the pool in an arc and hit the water hard.

“Help… I can’t swim.”

The rest of the crew came running to the edge and shouted at him, and the lifeguard went in fast enough, and then swam toward him very slowly.

He’s a nasty piece of work. Let him swallow a few more mouthfuls. He only has to not die.

Sabrina and Bridget watched it with their mouths open, and both of them were worried.

“Ms. Sinclair, is this going to come back on you?

“Is Everstone going to come after you?”

Nora’s face didn’t move. “If I were afraid of trouble, I wouldn’t have come.”

Gus thrashed around in the pool and swallowed several mouthfuls before the lifeguard finally pulled him out, soaked through and looking like a drowned rat.

Nora walked over to him in her heels, one step at a time. “Your legs still don’t open very well, and you’re still not wet enough. Shall I help you again?”

The cold coming off her frightened him badly enough that he got behind the lifeguard, glaring at her. “You… stay back!

“This is… you people have refused to cooperate with the shoot, which puts you in breach. Let me tell you something. My company is finished with yours. We’re terminating, and you’ll be paying the penalty!”

Nora stopped and looked down at him. “Then get whoever is in charge down here, and we can talk about the breach and the penalty.”

Gus looked at everything coming off her, and in the end he called his general manager, laying it on thick about her starting trouble and Sabrina refusing to work.

The general manager at Everstone heard Nora’s name and got straight on the phone to Adrian. “Mr. Pierce, Nora Sinclair is causing a scene at Seacliff Lodge.”

He’d told them to call him the moment she turned up anywhere.

“Nora is causing a scene at Seacliff Lodge?” Adrian frowned, and then he said, “I’m on my way.”

The general manager heard that and called back straight away.
