Chapter 170 The Table Comes Down

Frena never got the rest of it out. Something heavy dropped onto her and put her flat on the floor, then something soft landed on her mouth, and Ian’s pitted face filled her whole field of vision.
Before she could scream or shove him off, dishes crashed somewhere above them and a second weight came down on top of them both.
Nora had flipped the dining table over onto them, and neither one could get up.
She did it all in one smooth motion, and it was something to watch.
She set a foot on the tabletop and looked down at them. “So. How do you want to inspect the order?”
Fiona wrenched her head to the side to keep her mouth off his.
Then, she glared up at Nora. “I’m Damon’s woman. You do this to me and he’ll come after you and Wren both!”
Wren pulled at her arm. “Nora, leave it. Let’s just go.”
Nora gave her the look she saved for people who wouldn’t stand up for themselves. “Nothing’s settled, so we’re not going anywhere. I’m right here. Stop being scared of causing trouble. The more you back down, the bigger the mess I have to clean up.”
Wren had no answer for that.
Ian could barely breathe under the table, and his swollen face hurt enough to light his temper.
“Do you have any idea who we are? I’m a Granger. Fiona’s a Nash. Every person you put on the floor tonight comes from money.
“Let us up and get on your knees and beg while you still can, or you’re finished.”
Nora laughed at him. “The Grangers and the Nashes. You think that frightens me?”
Fiona shouted up from under the table. “What about the Winters? They’re one of the Big Four. They could crush you and everyone in your family like bugs!”
The words had barely left her mouth when a cold voice cut across the room.
“Say that again. Who exactly is getting crushed?” It was Julian.
Nora looked up and found him coming through the doors, and the temperature in the room seemed to drop a few degrees around him.
His eyes went straight to her.
Damon Winter had walked in beside him.
He spotted Wren in the delivery vest and frowned. “What are you doing here dressed like that? Do you have any idea how it looks?”

Wren pressed her lips together. “I’m working.”
ora let out a laugh. “That’s rich, Mr. Winter. You bring your mistress out to dinner and that doesn’t embarrass you, but your wife working a job does?”
Damon didn’t like it, though with Julian standing right there he let it go.
“Ms. Sinclair, let’s talk about this like adults. Let Fiona and the others up first. Violence doesn’t solve anything.”
Nora had no interest in doing him any favors. She tipped her head toward Julian instead. “For you I’d consider it. Do you want me to let them up?”

Julian came and stood in front of her, and that cold face broke into something indulgent. Even his voice warmed. “It’s your business. You decide. You don’t have to ask me.”
Damon turned on him. “Julian! Fiona and the rest of them are our friends!”
They all ran in the same circle, and most of them had known each other for years, which was why he had brought Julian along tonight.
Julian looked back at him, unmoved. “You think any of them matter more to me than Nora?”
Damon had nothing to say to that.
Nora found it funny too. “You walked in here and started in on her without asking a single question. Wren must have been blind to marry a piece of shit like you.”
Damon wasn’t going to argue with her, so he turned to Wren instead. “Tell Nora to let Fiona up. She’s pregnant. If anything happens to her, I’m holding you responsible.”
That set Nora off. “Are you even a man? I’m the one who put her down there. Come at me instead of blaming Wren.”
Damon snorted. “If Julian weren’t standing here, I would be, and you know it.”
Nora wanted to put a fist in his mouth.
Wren got between them and took her arm. “Nora, let it go. Let them up. I don’t want anything happening to you.”
If Fiona lost the baby over this, Damon would never let Nora walk away from it.
Nora looked down at her. “The baby didn’t do anything to me, so you get a pass tonight. Don’t fake a ‘miscarriage in front of me either, or I’ll be glad to make it real.”
The idea of clutching her stomach had just formed, and one look at how serious Nora was killed it. If she so much as faked a cramp, Nora would make the miscarriage real.
Nora lifted her foot off the table, and Julian took her hand. “Careful. There’s glass everywhere.”
Once they were clear of it, he asked, “What happened? Did she come after you?”
Nora looked back in time to see Damon rushing to pull Fiona out, and in his hurry he clipped Wren on the
