Chapter 171 The Only One He Wants
Frona and the rest of them hadn’t gotten to Nora. Wren had.

Nora rounded on her. “Whatever’s going on between you and those two, I’ll stay out of it tonight. But not this.”
Nora turned on Fiona and lan, cold all the way through. “They called me a mistress and told me to blow condoms up like balloons in front of a full room. I’m not letting that go.”
Julian’s expression hardened, and the look he turned on the pair of them could have cut glass. “This is how you treat someone who’s with me?
“And that was you a minute ago, Fiona, saying the Winters could crush Nora like a bug.”
That look sent Fiona behind Damon’s back. “She started it. And she’s been throwing herself at you like a mistress. That’s the only reason I said it.”
Julian’s voice dropped another few degrees. “Who told you she’s a mistress? She is my-”
“Julian.” Nora cut him off.
She had an agreement with Constance. For one year, nobody outside the family could be told that she was
his wife.
Julian had never agreed to any of it, and as far as he was concerned the deal wasn’t his to keep.
Then, he looked down and saw her asking him with her eyes, and he swallowed the word wife.
When he lifted his head again, his voice was flat. “Nora is the only woman I want. That makes her nobody’s mistress.
“Anyone who goes against her or puts a hand on her is going against me and against the Weston Group, and I won’t be polite about it.”
Nobody in the room said a word.
lan was shaking. He turned on Fiona. “You told me she was like Wren. No name, no family, both of them mistresses, both on the wrong side of the Blithes.
“So why is Julian Weston standing behind her? You’ve gotten me killed.”
Fiona was frightened enough to shove it straight back at him. “I never said any of that. Don’t throw dirt on me because you’re scared of Julian Weston.
“I told you to leave Wren and Ms. Sinclair alone. You’re the one who wouldn’t listen.”
“You-” She had flipped the whole thing onto him, and he turned to Julian in a panic. “Mr. Weston, Fiona lied to me and pushed me into it. Every bit of it was her idea. I’m not the one behind this. Please let me off.”
Julian looked down at him without any warmth at all. “If you’re begging, beg Nora. If she lets it go, it’s over. If she doesn’t…” He left the rest of it hanging, and every person in the room understood it.

Chapter 171 The Only One He Wants
Finished
lan swung around to Nora and started slapping his own face. “Ms. Sinclair, please let me off. I only did it because Fiona told me to. I didn’t mean any of it.”
Ian hit himself hard enough to split the corner of his mouth.
Nora looked over at Fiona.
Fiona pressed herself into Damon’s chest, got an arm around his neck, and said something against his car.
Damon frowned, and then he said something low to Wren.
Wren had been pale already, and whatever he told her took the last of the color out of her. She looked at Nora again, begging. “Nora, could you ask your husband to let it go? Please.”
Julian looked pleased at being called her husband.
Nora took in how white she had gone. Wren was still weak from the surgery, and none of this was worth another minute of the night.
Nora turned back to lan and Fiona. “Both of you get on your knees and apologize to Wren. Then you blow up every condom in that bag. And $200,000 for the trouble. Do that and we’re finished.”
Wren opened her mouth and then closed it again.
Nora hated backing down. Wren had already asked her to twice, and she couldn’t bring herself to ask a third time.
Ian was frightened enough of Julian to drop to his knees in front of Wren without a word. “Ms. Calloway, I’m sorry. Fiona told me you were working deliveries, so I ordered the condoms and asked for you by name.
“I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”
Wren couldn’t stand having anybody on the floor in front of her. “Get up. Go blow up the balloons and we’ll call it even.”
Ian got to his feet nearly in tears, grabbed a box without hesitating, tore one open, and started blowing.
Nora took out her phone, tapped at it for a moment, then looked at Fiona. “Nothing from you, Ms. Nash?”
There was no chance of her blowing up condoms in front of a full dining room. The humiliation would follow her into every society event she ever walked into again.
Fiona looked up at Damon, pleading. “Damon, I…”
The excuse about her stomach never made it out. Nora’s eyes were resting on her belly, flat and cold, and the words changed on the way.
“Damon, I won’t make trouble for you. I’m not going to cost you your friendship with Julian.”
Damon caught her arm, frowning. “Fiona.”
