Chapter 185 Going Public
Nara could clearit, except she didn’t have enough of what she needed, and the process itself was a nightmare.
“Coming to bed?” Julian said.
Nora kept her eyes on the contract. “Go ahead. I have a little more to get through.”
Julian went out.
Nora kept reading, pulling out the deals that were worth keeping.
By the time she finished, it was past midnight.
Out of habit she opened Instagram, and then she had to look twice.
“Julian?”
Julian had posted for the first time in his life.
Julian had captioned it, “My wife.”
Finished
The picture with it was her profile while she worked through the contracts, and from the angle he had taken it on his way out of the room.
Nora’s face went warm looking at it.
She went back to the bedroom. He had showered and was stretched out in bed with only the lamp on.
Julian had on satin pajamas with the collar open and a book in his hands, and the warm light pooled over him in a way that was frankly unfair.
He set the book down. “Finished?”
Something in the room had shifted.
“Mm.” Nora felt oddly off balance. “Did somebody hack your account?”
Julian worked out what she meant and looked straight at her. “No. I made us official.”
That look put heat in her face. “Oh.”
Julian went back to his book. “Mine’s sweeter than anybody else’s.”
Under that flat delivery, Nora caught something awkward in him, and something close to shy.
Is your own really sweeter?
Color climbed up her neck, and she went to shower.
When she came out, the book was gone and he had his phone in his hand, doing who knew what with it.

Nora lay down beside him under her own blanket. “Don’t stay on that thing too long. Get some sleep.”
H day had worn her out, and she was halfway under before her eyes closed.
“Nora.”
“Mm,” she answered, mostly asleep.
“Nora.” The second one had an edge on it.
Before she could get her eyes open, weight came down on top of her.
Nora opened them to Julian’s face inches from hers and his pajama top hanging open. She was wide awake in an instant.
“What are you doing?”
She got a hand up against his chest to hold him off. “Mr. Weston, your body isn’t cleared for strenuous activity.”
The lamp light was warm and yellow. Half of him was over her, her face was flushed, and her mouth was impossible to ignore.
Julian had never had much of an appetite for anything like this, and all at once he did.
He leaned in closer. “You want it that badly?”
“I don’t.” With the six-pack practically in her face, Nora swallowed.
Sick or not, he was built, and the faint trace of medicine on his skin smelled good.
She wasn’t against the idea. She was against being pushed into it.
Julian’s eyes dropped. The strap of her nightgown had slid off her shoulder.
His mouth went dry, and something he had never felt before came up all at once. He wanted her.
Through the thin satin, Nora could feel exactly how much.
Her eyes cooled, and her knee started to come up.
Julian rolled off the bed before it got there. “Go to sleep.”
He said it low, through everything he was holding back.
Nora’s knee was still cocked when he disappeared into the bathroom and the shower came on.
That stopped her.
She had assumed a man that domineering would take what he wanted and deal with her afterward, and instead he had gotten up and walked away.
Sleep was gone. When he came back to bed she asked, “Cold shower?”

Julian gave her a long look. “Yes.”
sten.” It came out awkward. “With your health, cold showers aren’t good for you.”
Nora’s shoulder was still uncovered, so Julian pulled the blanket up over it. “Then stop starting fires.”
Nora had no answer to that. I didn’t do anything.
Finished
She thought it over and decided to be practical. “You’re a grown man and your health is bad. Cold showers every night will do real damage.”
