Chapter 235 Taken In for Questioning
Geon was caught in the middle, and for a moment, the pressure made it hard to breathe.

He turned to Cordelia. She was giving him a hard, commanding look, and he knew exactly what she wanted him to say.
It felt like a boulder was sitting on his chest. Finally, he spoke. “Yesterday, I ran into Tanya at Starfall Media.
“After she finished talking to Nora, she was clutching her stomach in pain. I examined her. She was having some mild cramping…”
Cordelia looked at him and asked in a low voice, “Was it a threatened miscarriage?”
Gideon glanced at her, then looked away and pushed up his glasses. “Cramping can mean a lot of things. In mild cases, rest is enough. In serious cases, the patient needs to be hospitalized to save the pregnancy. Bu
Cordelia cut him off again. “Was Tanya’s case serious enough that she needed to be hospitalized?”
Gideon was getting agitated. He could feel Cordelia leaning on him, and she wanted him to say Nora had upset Tanya so badly that she’d nearly miscarried!
But yesterday, Tanya had only had some mild cramping. She hadn’t needed a hospital. Sitting down and resting would’ve been enough.
Cordelia looked at him. “Gideon, remember what I taught you. As doctors, we put the patient first. Everyone else comes second.”
Gideon was torn. He didn’t answer right away. Instead, he looked at Nora.
Nora felt him looking and met his eyes coolly. Then, she slowly smiled, and it was pure mockery. “Go ahead and say it, Dr. Vance.”
That smile stung. Gideon glanced at Cordelia again, then said loudly, “No. I examined Tanya. It was just some mild cramping. She wasn’t miscarrying.
“I told her to sit down and rest for a while and she’d be fine. She’s the one who wasn’t convinced. She said she wanted to get checked out at the hospital, and that if anything happened, she’d hold me responsible
too.”
Cordelia’s face darkened instantly. “Gideon!”
Nora was surprised too. She hadn’t expected Gideon to go against Cordelia’s wishes.
Cordelia hadn’t said it outright, but her hint had been obvious. Gideon must have understood.
Gideon said it again. “Yesterday, Tanya only had some mild cramping. She wasn’t miscarrying!”
Tanya shrieked, “You’re all doctors! You’re in this together! You’re all out to get me!”
Nora watched Tanya lose it and spoke coldly. “If you really think I paid someone to make you lose your baby, you wouldn’t be making a scene here. You’d call the police.

Chapter 235 Taken In for Questioning
“Calling the cops would do a lot more good than running your mouth.”

The people coming after her never dared to call the police. All they ever did was stir up public opinion and online mobs so they could strike first and bully her.
Their stories would never hold up to an investigation, and they had no real proof. As long as they made enough noise to ruin her reputation and destroy everyone’s trust in her, they’d already won.
Tanya glared at her with hatred. “I will call the police. But first, I’m going to expose you for the fake you are You’re no healer! You’re a murderer!”
Nora looked down at her phone and texted Rosalind.
Just then, someone in the crowd called out sternly, “Which one of you is Nora Sinclair?”
Nora looked up. Two police officers were standing there. “I am,” she said, a little surprised.
One of the officers walked up to her and showed his badge. “We got a call. You’re suspected of aggravated assault. We need you to come with us and cooperate with the investigation.”
Causing a miscarriage wasn’t murder, but under the law, it still counted as assault.
Tanya looked even more surprised than Nora. “I… I didn’t call the police.”
All she’d wanted was to blow this up, make Nora pay for it, and squeeze a nice chunk of money out of her. Then, they could put all that school stuff behind them.
That way, even if her husband divorced her, she’d still have money. She couldn’t lose the baby, her marriage, and her money all at once.
Nora glanced at Tanya, then looked over at Cordelia. Did she call the cops?
Mandy stepped forward in her greeter’s uniform. “I called them,” she announced loudly.
Adrian, who was standing beside her, frowned. “Why would you call the police?”
Mandy looked at Nora, gloating and not even trying to hide it. “I believe in my sister. I can’t let anyone frame her. And Nora’s right. When something like this happens, you call the police first thing.”
Then, she turned to the officers. “Officer, please take my sister in for questioning. If she didn’t do it, clear her name. And if the victim’s telling the truth, then get her justice.
“We’ll hand over the security footage from the Starfall Media lobby too.”
Mandy walked over and leaned in close to Nora’s ear, speaking so only she could hear. “Enjoy the interrogation, Nora.”
Nora tilted her head and gave her a cold look.
