Chapter 246 Caught on Camera

Juan let go in horror. “I’m so-”

Finished

Before he could finish, he felt a sharp sting in his neck. His eyes went wide, Nora’s face reflected in them, and then he slowly slumped down on top of her.

Now that she could finally breathe, Nora gasped in one lungful of air after another. But Julian was so heavy that she could barely stand having him on top of her.

She pushed him off. He rolled onto his side, and his whole body started shaking and twitching again.

Nora stared at him, speechless. “I swear, you’re going to be the death of me!” If he died stark naked in her bed, she’d never live it down. But more importantly, she didn’t want him to die.

She grabbed the silver needles and quickly got to work on him. His twitching finally eased, though he was still trembling. Next, she pressed on several pressure points to try to stabilize him.

By the time she was done, Nora was covered in a light sheen of sweat. But Julian’s eyes were still shut. He was still trembling, his fists clenched so tight that the veins stood out, and cold sweat kept breaking out all over his body.

“That’s strange,” she murmured. “This doesn’t look like one of his usual rage episodes.” She checked his pulse again, carefully this time, and frowned hard. “It doesn’t match the toxin he already had, either. Is this something new?”

If it had been the old toxin, she could’ve kept it under control, eased his symptoms, and brought him back to normal. But this new one was too strange, and for once, Nora wasn’t sure what to do.

She watched him suffer, and she was so scared of losing him that her chest ached with every breath. “If this keeps up, Julian’s going to die!”

The needles weren’t enough. He needed medicine, but she didn’t have any on hand. She needed Clearheart, or else she needed Olivia.

Nora frowned, picked up Julian’s phone, and pressed his finger to the screen to unlock it.

She opened his contacts and paused for a second. The very first entry was saved as AAA Wife. But there was no time to dwell on it. She quickly found Olivia’s number. It was saved under her plain old name, nothing special.

In her rush, she accidentally hit the video call button. It rang only twice before Olivia picked up.

The signal must have been weak on Olivia’s end, because Nora heard her before she could see her. “Mmm, Jules…”

Olivia purred the words, soft and sultry, and that long, drawn-out “Mmm” sounded like something straight out of a porno. Most men would’ve been putty in her hands the second they heard it.

But Nora wasn’t a man, and it just gave her goose bumps. “Ms. Blithe, it’s me,” she said coldly.

The video finally connected, and they could see each other.

Olivia caught her breath and blushed with embarrassment. Then, she explained with as much grace and poise as she could manage. “Oh, Nora, it’s you. Sorry about that. The temperature swings a lot up here in

mountains, and my throat’s been bothering me.” She even cleared her throat for effect.

Nora was embarrassed for her. That excuse wasn’t fooling anyone. But this wasn’t the time to argue about it.

Before she could say anything, Sienna shrieked from somewhere off-screen. “Nora Sinclair, who said you could touch Julian’s phone?”

Sienna could see Nora on the screen in a bathrobe, and behind her, she could just make out Julian lying on the bed, shirtless and covered in hickeys. She got even shriller, like she’d just caught them in bed together.

“It’s the middle of the day! Why are you using Julian’s phone to call Olivia? To rub it in her face that you get to sleep with him? Have you no shame?”

Things had only been quiet for a moment, and now Nora had Sienna screeching in her ear. She sneered. “If your mind’s that filthy, go wash your brain out with a bottle of bleach. Or go jump in a lake. Even a lake’s cleaner than you are!”

“You-” Sienna sputtered.

Nora cut her off coldly. “Unless you want to be planning Julian’s funeral, shut up.”

Then, she turned the camera toward Julian and asked Olivia, “Take a look at him. What’s wrong with him? What medicine does he need? And what needle technique have you been using on him lately?”

Olivia had been the one treating Julian lately, and Nora hadn’t been involved at all. She had no idea whether Olivia’s treatment had anything to do with this, so she had to ask his doctor first.
