Nora helped Constance straighten up. “Grandma, don’t beg Dr. Blithe. She isn’t the one who saved Julian, and she might not even be able to. She just wants to get her hooks into you and the rest of the Westons.”

Then, she turned to Cordelia. “Dr. Blithe, don’t be so sure of yourself. You might end up with egg on your face. You didn’t save anyone, you didn’t bring any medicatioft, and now you’re trying to use this to get leverage over the Westons. You’d be throwing away your good name this late in life.”

Cordelia could feel Nora’s contempt, along with the uneasy sense that Nora had her number.

Her face darkened. “Well, since you don’t need us, I won’t force the medication on you. Why should I save his life just to get accused of having some hidden agenda, without so much as a thank-you?”

Cordelia started dragging Olivia away, ignoring her protests.

They’d only gone two steps when she looked up and saw Simon Fletcher, the Caduceus Order’s steward, hurrying toward them. Her expression darkened. “Simon. There you are.”

He was sweaty and out of breath from running. Still, he greeted her respectfully. “Dr. Blithe.”

Cordelia glanced sideways at Nora and the others, then acknowledged him with a haughty nod. “You’re here with the special medication, I take it?”

Before Simon could answer, she went on. “You can take it back. Mr. Weston already has someone else treating him. Apparently, he doesn’t need the Caduceus Order’s medication. He’s too good for it.”

When Sienna saw that, she hurried to plead with Constance. “Grandma, make Nora apologize to Dr. Blithe, quick! If she doesn’t, they really will take the medication back, and then what’s going to happen to Julian?

“The Caduceus Order is an even bigger deal than the Blithes!”

The sight of Simon did shake Constance a little. But when she looked at Nora, who seemed perfectly calm and collected, she couldn’t help trusting her, and it put her at ease.

She shot Sienna a cold look. “Whose side are you on? You won’t stand up for Nora, and she’s family, but you take an outsider’s side every single time. Do you want to be thrown out too?”

Sienna had nothing to say to that.

Simon frowned. “Dr. Blithe…”

Cordelia pointed angrily at Nora. “I’m the one who asked your Order to send Felix to save Julian and to bring me the special medication.

“But Ms. Sinclair here insists she’s the one who saved him. She won’t admit Felix did it, and she claims she’s the one who had you bring the medication.”

“Dr. Blithe…” Simon tried again.

Cordelia’s face was grim, and she made it sound like a very serious matter. “As long as the patient gets

better, it doesn’t matter who saved him. What worries me is that she’ll use the Caduceus Order’s name to con people later on. She’ll ruin our reputation!”

Olivia gently urged Nora, “Nóra, Mr. Fletcher hasn’t said anything yet. Apologize to my grandma now, before he does. That way, it won’t be too embarrassing, and Julian will still get the medication that’ll save his life.

“Julian comes first. Otherwise…”

Simon was already in a hurry, and every time he opened his mouth, someone cut him off. Now, they were all pointing at Nora, blaming her and demanding an apology.

He was angry and scared at the same time, and he finally just yelled, “Would you all shut up? What idiot told you I was bringing the medicine for you? I’m bringing it for Ms. Blythe!” He practically roared that last

part.

His outburst stunned everyone into silence.

For a second, Cordelia thought she was about to be humiliated, that something had gone wrong somewhere. But then the name sank in, and she relaxed.

Olivia stepped up to him with a smile. “Mr. Fletcher, Dr. Blithe is my grandmother. We’re family, so it’s all the same. You can just give the medicine to me.”

Simon looked at her outstretched hand and frowned, still not giving her the time of day. “I’m not bringing it for you either.”

Then, he walked over to Nora, and his scowl instantly turned into a big, eager, respectful smile. “Ms. Blythe, here are your Lazarus pills.”

Nora took them with a small smile. “Thanks so much, Mr. Fletcher.”

Simon looked flustered. “Please, Ms. Blythe, just call me Simon.”

He’d treated Cordelia and Olivia one way and Nora the complete opposite, and the sudden one-eighty left everyone stunned.

Olivia looked at her empty hand and pulled it back awkwardly, her face burning with humiliation.

Sienna was stunned for a moment. Then, she said loudly, “Um, Mr. Fletcher, you’ve got the wrong girl. She’s not a Blithe. Olivia is. You just gave the medicine to the wrong person.

“Plus, she’s the one who stole the credit from your doctor for saving Julian. And she stole the credit for the medication Olivia had you send too!”

Simon’s smile vanished. His face went dead serious, and he asked Nora, “Is that what happened?”

Nora nodded. “That’s what they’re saying.”

When Simon got angry again, Cordelia and Olivia relaxed all over again. He’d gotten the wrong person after all.
