Chapter 278 Unfriended
“And we were set up! Nora hid her face or purpose to fool us…”

The moment she brought up Nora like that, Zane got irritated and cut her off. “It’s not that I don’t want to pay you back. I’m not some ungrateful jerk. I just want to ask you one thing. Before you saved me, did you see Nora? And when you found me, what kind of shape was I in?”
Olivia paused. “You were lying on the ground, gasping for air. You were having an asthma attack. I couldn’t find your inhaler, so I ripped your shirt open and used my needles on you. Then, I called 911.”
Zane frowned. That matched his hazy memory. His shirt really had been torn.
“So did you see Nora?”
Olivia could tell something was off with him. She pressed her lips together. “That day, I was chasing after Nora, but I never saw her. I heard someone gasping, and I knew from experience that someone was in trouble, so I stopped chasing her.”
“Ha.” She gave a bitter laugh. “I was out of line, Zane. I shouldn’t have tried to cash in on saving you. No wonder you’re suspicious of me now.
“Forget it. My grandma didn’t do any of this, so I’m sure she’ll be fine. I won’t bother you anymore. I’m really sorry about today.”
With that, Olivia hung up and deleted Zane’s number. She knew it by heart anyway.
After a moment’s thought, she gritted her teeth and sent Zane a text. “Don’t forget to carry your inhaler from now on. Sorry for bothering you today. A girl who’d cash in a favor like that doesn’t deserve to be your friend. Goodbye.”
Then, she unfriended him.
Zane saw it and wanted to explain, so he texted back, “No, that’s not what I meant. I was just asking. Don’t read into it.”
The second he hit send, the message bounced back with a notice that he wasn’t on her friends list
anymore.
Zane was floored. “That’s the first time anyone’s ever had the guts to unfriend me!” Olivia really had some
nerve.
The words were barely out of his mouth when Augusta rapped him hard on the head with her knuckles. “Ow!” Zane clutched his head and rubbed it, giving her a wounded look. “Grandma, what was that for? Keep that up, and you’ll knock me stupid.”
Augusta pointed at his phone. “Enough chitchat. Get back to commenting. You skip a single one, and you’re getting a whooping!”
Zane rubbed his head and sighed. “Fine, fine.”
He forgot all about Olivia unfriending him and switched apps. Then, he typed like a man possessed, firing

Track at every comment that trashed Nora.

When someone said Nora was so ugly she should kill herself and start over, he replied as zanezanezane: [Talk about a punchable face. And you’re calling other people ugly? You can’t exactly start over, so try eating some makeup. Maybe it’ll make you pretty on the inside.]
When someone claimed Nora had to drug Julian to get him to marry her and sleep with her, and that if she was that hard up, she should go find a dog, he replied: [You kiss your mother with that mouth? Somebody wash it out with soap!]
When someone accused Nora of stealing the credit for saving Julian and called her a shameless bitch, he posted a screenshot and a link and replied: [Open your damn eyes and look who’s really stealing the credit. Sure, the old-timer’s good, but the new kid just wiped the floor with her. If you’re that blind, get some glasses. And while you’re at it, get a brain.]
After a while, Zane got tired of typing. He stretched his stiff fingers and looked up at Augusta.
She had her reading glasses on and her phone propped up on a stand, and she was jabbing at the screen with one finger from each hand.
The way she went at it, she might as well have been on a battlefield, firing artillery at the enemy.
Augusta’s insults might have sounded classy, but they were downright filthy.
Zane sighed. “When people were trashing my brother Ethan and me online, all you ever did was cheer them on for a good roast. You never wrote one comment for us. I swear I’m adopted.”
Augusta threw a pillow at him. “Quit slacking off.”
Zane resigned himself to his fate, put his head down, and got back to cussing people out.
Meanwhile, nobody was trying to bury the news. If anything, plenty of people were helping it spread.
The stories about Cordelia shot to the top of the trending lists in record time. Since they involved organ trafficking, they caught the attention of the authorities too.
People online were stunned.
[OMG, I finally find a woman at the top of her field to stan, and she gets canceled? Is it me? Does everyone I stan get canceled?]
[No way. This is Dr. Blithe we’re talking about. She’s rich and powerful. Why would she do this? There has to be a reason, right?]
[Rich and powerful? Who knows how she got that way. Plus, look at the video. It proves Dr. Blithe finished the heart surgery early but kept the patient in the OR so she’d have an excuse not to save Mr. Weston. All just to get back at Mrs, Weston.]
