Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 288

Chapter 288 A Very Important Guest

Finished

Mandy was already getting excited. Nora’s luck was about to run out, and Mandy’s new life was finally about to begin!

Adrian looked down at her for a long moment. Then, he slowly nodded. “Okay. Whatever you want.”

Mandy explained, “I’m just worried Nora will show up and use the Weston Group’s clout to steal the deal. If we throw a celebration, nobody gets in without an invitation.

“Once the party’s over and Mr. Joss has gone home, we can relax.”

Adrian was still watching her with a dark, unreadable look. “That would be safer. Go ahead and set it up.”

Mandy happily agreed. “Okay.”

This was a luxury hotel owned by the Pierce Group, and Adrian was letting her run things. That practically made her the Pierce heir’s future wife.

She’d better hurry and get everything ready. When Nora showed up, they could stop her at the door for not having an invitation.

Mandy couldn’t wait to watch Nora embarrass herself. Just thinking about it made her happy.

She even thought about having the staff put up a sign at the door that read, “No Dogs or Nora Allowed.”

But then she thought better of it. Nora was still Julian’s wife, after all, and Mandy couldn’t afford to offend the Westons.

So she gave the lobby manager special instructions/ “If you see Nora Sinclair, make sure you check her invitation. Whatever you do, don’t let her in. The Pierce Group’s future depends on it.”

Then, she lifted her chin like she was royalty. “Of course, if she begs me, maybe I’ll let her in as a waitress, since she is my sister.”

Just a couple of days ago, Mandy had worked as a greeter right here and ended up on her knees in front of

Nora.

Thinking about that scene still made her furious, and she hated Nora for it.

She’d been so humiliated that Adrian had almost broken up with her. Luckily, she’d used what she knew from her previous life to help him land the deal with Joss, and they’d made up.

Time ticked by, and the celebration got underway.

Mandy checked with the lobby manager several times. “Is Nora here yet?”

Every time, the answer was the same. “No.”

Mandy checked the time and frowned. “That doesn’t make sense. Isn’t she supposed to be coming after the contract?”

If Nora didn’t show up, Mandy couldn’t humiliate her or show off the signed contract. Then landing the deal with Joss felt kind of pointless, like all her pent-up frustration had nowhere to go, and that only made her more irritated.

Mandy checked the time again, starting to doubt everything. “Is she really not coming? Did she actually give up?”

Maybe Nora had seen through her plan and stayed away so she wouldn’t embarrass herself.

Adrian walked over and saw Mandy glancing toward the lobby every few seconds. He frowned. “What are you looking at?”

Mandy hooked her arm through his and put on her sweetest voice. “I’m worried Nora might show up, so I’ve been keeping an eye out.”

At that, Adrian looked toward the lobby too. His expression was dark and impossible to read.

But he stared at the doors for so long that Mandy got the strange feeling he was hoping Nora would come.

The thought gave her a jolt, and she said quickly, “She’s definitely not coming. Let’s go back inside.”

From now on, she’d better not mention Nora around Adrian so much.

After all, she’d been reborn, and Adrian was hers now. She’d helped him land the Orion project, and now she had the international deal with Joss too.

She’d already beaten Nora. There was no rush to rub it in. Gloating in private would do just fine.

“Mr. Pierce, Ms. Sinclair.” Joss and his team hurried over to them.

Mandy quickly looked up with a big smile. “Mr. Joss, the party’s not over yet. Are you…”

Are they leaving early? Mandy hoped so. That would be perfect. Nora wouldn’t stand a chance.

Joss looked grave. “A very important friend of ours has just arrived. I need to go out and welcome them.”

Mandy had a sinking feeling. Her first thought was Nora. “Who is it?”

Joss shook his head. “A close friend of Count Ansel, from my home country. I’m very sorry, Mr. Pierce, but would you and Ms. Sinclair mind coming out with me to welcome our honored guest?”

The moment Mandy heard it was a friend of Count Ansel’s, she ruled Nora out. There was no way Nora knew some count from overseas. Even in her previous life, Mandy had never heard of Nora having a friend like that.

Mandy relaxed completely and put on a big smile. “Of course. Any friend of yours is a friend of ours, Mr. Joss.”

Adrian, suspicious as ever, frowned. “Mr. Joss, will this friend affect our partnership? Is Count Ansel going to get involved?”

He was cautious and tended to overthink things. What he was worried about was Julian pulling strings and bringing in some big shot to get Joss to break the contract.
