Chapter 291 Burned by Her Own Plan
Mandy was so angry that she ground her teeth and shouted, “Nora, don’t push it!”
Finished
Only then did Nora look up at her, “A waitress who won’t do as she’s told? Then get out. Mr. Joss and I aren’t finished talking.”
Mandy had swallowed her pride and come in as a waitress so she could hear how Nora was pitching Joss. She wanted to sabotage the whole thing.
If she walked out now, all that humiliation would have been for nothing
And she couldn’t let Adrian down. Maybe if she pulled this off, she and Adrian could finally get married.
Mandy took a deep breath, swallowed her anger, and gritted her teeth. “Fine. I’ll change them for you!”
She crouched down in front of Nora. She was already planning to scratch Nora with her long nails, as if by accident, or to jab the toe of the shoe hard into the top of Nora’s foot when she picked it up. Either way, she’d get a little payback on the sly.
Nora turned her foot away and said lightly, “Never mind. I’m not going to force you. If you don’t want to do it, you’ll just end up hurting me ‘by accident.’ You can go.
Mandy was so mad that she could’ve screamed, but she had to hold it in if she wanted to stay. “Taking care of guests is my job. I don’t mind at all. I’m happy to change your shoes. Okay?”
Nora raised an eyebrow, but she didn’t move her foot away this time.
Mandy was wearing a tight bodycon dress, and it was hard to change shoes while crouching, so she had no choice but to kneel on one knee. She fought down her rage and changed Nora’s shoes.
Again and again, she wanted to smash Nora’s foot, and again and again, she held back so she could stay.
Once she’d finished, Mandy stood up and turned to Joss. “Mr. Joss, this is my sister. She’s always been pushy, ever since we were kids. She’s really not a good person to do business with.”
Joss looked from Mandy to Nora and smiled. “Mrs. Weston is a very interesting and very capable woman. It would be an honor to work with her.”
Mandy was getting desperate. “Mr. Joss…”
Nora pointed at the coffee carafe and cut her off. “Pour the coffee. The guests are talking. The waitress doesn’t get to butt in.”
Mandy looked down at the steaming carafe, then at Nora. An idea came to her. “Fine. I’ll pour the coffee.
If Nora got burned badly enough, she’d have to rush off to the hospital, and that would be the end of her talk with Joss.
And if Nora’s face just happened to get scalded, she’d lose that pretty face she used to reel men in. Then Adrian would stop paying any attention to her.

With that vicious plan in mind, Mandy picked up the carafe and fixed her eyes on Nora’s face. She waited for the right moment. Then, pretending the handle was too hot, she let out a yelp and got ready to fling
the carafe.
“Aaah!” Just as Mandy let go, a sharp pain shot through her foot. Instead of flying forward, the carafe dropped straight down, and the scalding coffee-poured down her stomach and legs.
“Ahhh! It’s hot! It hurts! Ow!” Mandy hopped around, wailing, like she’d been dropped into boiling water.
Meanwhile, Nora, the one Mandy had meant to burn, had already braced a foot against the table leg and pushed off, sliding her chair way back. Not a single drop had touched her.
Nora scoffed and frowned. “So clumsy. You can’t even pour coffee. Nobody would want you as a waitress.”
Joss could only stare.
“Nora! It hurts!” Mandy sobbed, hopping around, in so much pain that she didn’t know what to do.
“Here’s some friendly advice,” Nora said. “That coffee was scalding. Get your clothes off right away and run cold water over the burns for at least 15 minutes. Then go to the hospital.
“Otherwise, your clothes will stick to your burned skin. It’ll hurt like hell, and you’ll end up with ugly scars.”
Joss glanced at Nora again, unsure whether she was actually trying to help.
Mandy didn’t have much in the way of brains to begin with, and the pain had wiped out what little she had. When she heard the word “scars,” she panicked and yanked off her dress.
“Mandy!” Adrian had heard the screams from the private room and rushed over, only to find Mandy stripped down to her bra and panties in front of everyone.
His worry turned to anger. “Mandy, what the hell are you doing?”
He was furious, but he still pulled off his suit jacket and threw it over her.
A crowd of hotel staff had followed him in, and every one of them knew Mandy was his girlfriend.
To Adrian, seeing Mandy standing there in her underwear in front of his employees was no different from the day he and his father had caught his mother cheating when he was a kid. It made him sick, and it made him furious.
He’d thrown the jacket over her shoulders roughly, without a shred of gentleness.
Mandy’s shoulder had been scalded too. She yelped in pain and shoved the jacket off, sobbing. “It hurts! I don’t want it! I need water!”
She ran into the kitchenette right next door, turned on the faucet, crouched down, and let the cold water pour over her.
Adrian looked at the suit jacket on the floor, then at all the hotel staff crowding the doorway. His usually gentle face turned terrifyingly dark.
