Chapter 292 Forgotten Upstairs
screa
Mandy was so angry she screamed. “Aaah! Nora!”
Adrian took one look at Mandy’s lacy lingerie set and looked angrier than ever.
Nora was in a great mood now. She turned to Joss. “I’ll see you around, Mr. Joss. I’m heading out.”
Joss checked his watch and stood up too. “It’s about time for me to leave for the airport too.”
Adrian asked Joss anxiously, “Mr. Joss, what about our partnership?”
Finished
“Nothing’s changed for now,” Joss said. “We’re still working with the Pierce Group. Mrs. Weston and I have finished our conversation.”
Only then did Adrian let out a breath of relief. He looked up at Nora, expecting to see her disappointed and heartbroken over her failure.
But she didn’t look that way at all. She just gave a faint, polite smile, shook Joss’s hand goodbye, and turned gracefully to leave.
It was as if this were just some small deal. Win or lose, it didn’t make much difference to her.
That calm confidence drew his eyes, and he couldn’t stop staring after her.
Mandy, still crouched under the faucet, was stunned for a moment. Then, she shot to her feet in a rage and yelled at Nora, “You were already done talking, and you still made me play waitress just to humiliate me!
“Nora, I hate you! Aaah!”
Nora didn’t even turn around. “Quit scheming against other people, or you’ll be the one who pays for it.”
She’d seen Mandy’s move coming and prepared for it. Otherwise, that scalding coffee would’ve ended up all over her face.
Adrian watched Nora walk away without a care in the world. Then, he looked at Mandy, half-naked and soaking wet, stomping her feet and screaming like a madwoman. They were worlds apart.
That one comparison made him dislike Mandy even more. Even his memory of whoever had saved him all those years ago was starting to lose its shine.
Every time he thought about the savior he’d carried in his heart all these years and remembered that it was Mandy, he got irritated and torn.
Adrian pinched the bridge of his nose. Then, still uneasy, he asked Joss, “Mr. Joss, you didn’t make any deal with Nora, did you?”
Joss nodded. “That’s right. Don’t worry, Mr. Pierce.”
That finally put Adrian at ease, and he gave a gentlemanly smile. “Let me see you out.”
Joss waved him off and pointed at Mandy. “You should take care of your girlfriend first, Mr. Pierce. She

looks like she’s in a lot of pain. That coffee was very hot.”
So Adrian had someone else see Joss out.
Finished
He picked his suit jacket up off the floor and walked over to Mandy. Her skin was covered in red patches, and a few blisters had come up.
He thought about how she’d gone in there as a waitress and clashed with Nora, and about the deal she’d helped him land. He closed his eyes for a moment and swallowed his irritation and disgust.
When he opened his eyes again, he looked at her with nothing but tenderness. He gently draped the jacket around her and asked softly, “How did you get burned?”
His tenderness made Mandy burst into tears. “Nora did it on purpose. She just wanted to humiliate me. Making me play waitress wasn’t enough. She made me pour the coffee and stepped on my foot so I’d spill it all over myself.
“And then she tricked me into taking off my dress and rinsing off…” Mandy sobbed. “Nora’s so mean. She’s so vicious. I hate her!
“Ace, how can she be so mean? I didn’t even do anything to her this time. I just wanted to hear what she and Mr. Joss were talking about. I was scared she’d steal the Joss deal. I was scared she’d hurt you…”
Adrian listened to her whimper on and on, but he didn’t feel sorry for her. He just felt irritated.
He helped her up and said gently, “Okay, stop crying. Let’s get you to the hospital.”
Mandy clung to his arm and looked up at him with teary eyes. “Ace, I don’t like Nora. She’s always picking on me, making me look stupid, and trying to drive a wedge between us.
“Don’t
you start liking her too. Hate her with me, okay?”
For a moment, Adrian’s mind flashed back to all the times he’d seen Nora, and he was lost in thought.
“Ace!” Mandy cried, her voice thick with tears.
She was gripping his arm so hard that it hurt, and her nails had left marks. Still, he only answered flatly. “Yeah, sure. Come on, let’s get you to the hospital.”
Nora had just walked out through the lobby doors when a hotel employee rushed up to her. “Ms. Sinclair, when are you going to come get your grandmother?”
“My grandmother?” Nora was caught off guard, and for a second, she couldn’t make sense of it.
Grandma Weston should be home resting. She didn’t follow me here too, did she? Nora wondered.
“That’s right,” the employee said. “It’s time to pay for another night. And your kitten really isn’t suited to a hotel. It keeps getting out and bothering the other guests.”
It suddenly clicked, and Nora was embarrassed. “I’m so sorry for all the trouble. Is she still in the room?”
