Chapter 294 A Fierce Little Old Lady
If that was Nora’s plan, Miles figured there might still be a chance.
“Neither,” Nora said. “I’m going to Renora. I’ve got to go. Bye.”
“Mrs. Weston…” Miles was frantic, but she’d already hung up. –

Miles didn’t know what else to do, so he called Julian and got straight to the point. “Sir, Mrs. Weston hasn’t closed the deal yet, but Mr. Joss has already left the hotel for the airport. He’ll be flying out soon.”
“I see,” Julian said calmly. “What did Nora say?”
“She told me to go take care of your discharge paperwork,” Miles said. “She’s heading to Renora first, and she’ll come get you when she’s done.”
Then, he couldn’t help complaining. “Sir, the deal fell through, and she’s not worried at all. She’s even in the mood to go to the spa. And you’re still in the hospital, but she’s not in any hurry about that either…”
Julian cut him off. “She’s got her own things to take care of. She’s not worried about me because I’m fine now. Just do what she told you.”
Miles was at a loss for a second. “But what if she really can’t close the deal?
“Are you really going to resign and move out of the main house with your grandmother and your wife?”
That was as good as handing the family fortune to Harlan on a silver platter, all because of the mess Nora had made.
Julian stayed perfectly calm. “If Nora isn’t worried, she must have a plan. I trust her. She wouldn’t take a gamble like this unless she was sure.”
Miles got it. His boss trusted Nora blindly.
But the boss had spoken, so there was nothing more Miles could say.
All he could do was hang up and drive off.

Augusta hugged the kitten and watched Nora hang up. “Who was that? He was being mean to you!”
Augusta looked ready to go to bat for her, and Nora smiled. “He wasn’t being mean. He’s just a little stressed.”
“Stressed about what? Where’s the fire?” Augusta patted her white hair. “Even an old lady like me isn’t in a hurry.”
Nora was speechless for a moment. “No, it’s just… I’m working on a business deal, and um, two bad people got in the way, so it didn’t go through. That’s why he’s stressed.”
Augusta perked up. “Oh, so there are bad people.”

Nora picked up the kitten, and it licked her hand. “All packed. Let’s go.”
“What bad people? What deal?” Augusta followed obediently behind her.
Nora tried to put it in terms Augusta would understand. “Just an old doctor. And the deal is a little business with some people overseas.”
“Oh,” Augusta said.
Nora didn’t really expect her to understand. She had the staff bring the bags, and she called Wren ahead of time to get a room ready.
Then, she took Augusta to Renora. To make things easier, Wren had moved into an apartment complex right next to the spa.
“We’re here, Grandma.” When Nora got out of the car, Wren came over to meet them. Nora noticed right away
that one of Wren’s cheeks was red and swollen, and she frowned. “What happened to your face?”
Wren touched her cheek and smiled at Nora. “Nothing. I bumped into something.”
Nora rolled her eyes. “Do I look blind to you? Somebody hit you. Was it Damon again?”
Since she’d been caught, Wren nodded. “Remember yesterday, when Fiona said that if you were the one operating on Julian, she’d get an abortion? She actually went.”
Nora raised an eyebrow and gave a cold laugh. “Let me guess. She got into the operating room, and before they could even put her under, Damon burst in to stop it. Then he came after you for it and hit you?”
Wren stared at her in surprise. “How do you know all that? Were you at the hospital?”
Nora snorted. “That sweet-little-angel act is so cheap. You’d have to be an idiot not to see through it.”
Wren gave a bitter laugh. “It really is cheap. He probably sees right through it too. But since it’s her, he plays dumb.”
Nora flicked Wren’s forehead, exasperated. “You know all that, and you still haven’t given up on him? You still can’t get him out of your head?”
Wren rubbed her forehead. “I’ve given up, okay? I’m so busy with work every day that I don’t have time to pine after anybody. Quit picking on me. Who’s this? Where’d you get an extra grandma?”
Augusta gave Wren an unhappy look. “I’m not extra! I’ve always been Tilly’s grandma! Keep talking like that, and I won’t be your friend.”
Nora glanced at Augusta, then tapped the side of her own head to let Wren know that Augusta wasn’t quite all there and that she’d taken her in.
Wren gave a knowing “Oh.” Then, she smiled and said hello to Augusta. “Hi, Grandma.”
Nora introduced them. “Grandma, this is my cousin, Wren Calloway. You’re going to live with her from now on. She’ll take good care of you.”
