Chapter 304 Kicked to the Curb

Nora nearly burst out laughing. Harlan really had some nerve. He’d just put Olivia in her place for her, and for a moment, Nora couldn’t tell if he was friend or foe.

Olivia’s face darkened, and she forced a stiff smile. “My grandma’s the one who runs the Blithe family. It’s not my call.”

Harlan had known she wouldn’t agree, and he was furious that she’d wasted his time. “Not this, not that! So you won’t give up a single thing, but you want me to take the loss and play the villain while you get to be the hero?

“I’ve been faking it for decades myself. You think I can’t see right through a little faker like you?”

He rolled his eyes. “I may be a jerk, but I’m not an idiot!”

“Uncle Harlan…” Olivia began again.

Harlan waved her off impatiently. “Quit the act. If you really want to be the good guy, if you really want me to do you a favor, marry my son or give me the Blithe family. Otherwise, stop wasting my time!”

As far as he was concerned, even trading the Westons for the Blithes would’ve been a bad deal.

He turned and yelled at the staff, “Move it! I want all of Mother’s things out of here in 30 minutes. $1,000 for every piece you carry out, and a $100,000 bonus at the end of the month!”

Money talked. Once Harlan sweetened the pot, the staff started hauling things out twice as fast.

Olivia stood awkwardly off to the side. When Harlan walked past, he shouldered her out of the way. “Move. You’re in my way.”

Nora let out a soft laugh. She tore the contract to shreds and stuffed the pieces into Olivia’s hand. “If you’re going to put on a show, see it through. Don’t let the mask slip halfway. It ruins the fun for the rest of us.”

Constance sighed and looked at Olivia, disappointed. “Olivia, this is our family’s business. We never should have expected you to sacrifice yourself to help us.

“Even if you were only putting on an act, I’m glad you tried. It’s just…”

She looked even more disappointed. “The reason this deal fell through is that your grandma called in a favor. Your family did this.”

Olivia panicked and rushed to explain. “Grandma Weston, I didn’t know anything about that. And I can’t believe my grandma would ever do something like that. There must be some misunderstanding…”

Constance cut her off with a look sharp enough to see right through her. “Olivia, are you really telling me you didn’t know?”

Olivia remembered what Cordelia had told her yesterday about calling in a favor to get Joss to turn down the Weston Group.

She felt so guilty that she couldn’t look Constance in the eye. She glanced away and bit her lip. “I really

didn’t know. And I’m sure my grandma would never do that. Our families have been friends for decades.”

When Constance saw herdodging her gaze, she understood, and she felt even more let down. Without another word, she went to stand beside Nora. Julian didn’t so much as glance at Olivia.

Olivia started to panic. It seemed like every single Weston had stopped caring about her and started caring about Nora instead.

Am I just supposed to give up? No. All of this should have been hers, and Nora had stolen it right out from under her. Olivia refused to let it go.

In the living room, Harlan was directing the staff and security guards as they hurried to move everything out. His mother’s pictures were already up on the wall, and every photo of Constance and her family had been carried outside.

Harlan stood in front of Constance and gestured toward the door. “Mother, Julian, Nora, we’ve packed up your things for you. You can leave the main house now.”

“Oh, right.” As if he’d just remembered, he handed the contract to Julian. “Julian, you can sign this now. From here on out, Theo and I will take care of the Weston Group.

“You just take Nora on a nice honeymoon. Make some good memories with whatever time you’ve got left.”

He was getting cocky now, and he wasn’t even afraid of Julian anymore.

Julian stayed perfectly calm. “So family means nothing to you now, Uncle Harlan? You won’t give us a single chance before you kick us out?”

Sienna panicked and hurried to stand next to Julian. Dad, if you’re kicking Grandma and Julian out, then kick me out too. I’m sticking with them no matter what.” After all, Julian was the one who brought in the money around here.

Harlan yanked Sienna back to his side. “What do you think you’re doing? I’m your father!”

Sienna pulled free and went right back to Julian’s side. “If you kick Grandma and the others out, then you’re not my dad anymore.”

Harlan was so fed up with her stubbornness that he gave up on her. “Hollis, take Sienna to her room. Everyone else, get Mother’s things out of here, and throw these people out too! Anyone who won’t leave gets tossed out like trash!”

“Ms. Weston, please come with us.” Hollis reached out to grab Sienna’s arm.

Sienna dodged him and shouted, “I’m not going! I’m staying with Grandma and Julian and Nora! Nora, help me!”

Nora smacked Hollis’s hand away. “Get your filthy hands off her.”

Time was running out, and Harlan was more certain than ever that he’d won. He didn’t bother being polite anymore. “Grab some brooms and sweep them out of here!”

The security guards got ready to throw them out by force.

Olivia gritted her teeth and decided to see the act through. At the very least, she had to salvage her image in Julian’s eyes. She loved him so much that she’d give up anything for him.

“Uncle Harlan, I’m willing to

She’d barely opened her mouth when Reeve, the main house butler, hurried in, beaming. “Ma’am, Count Ansel from Kestria is here!”

Constance was surprised and confused. “Count Ansel?”

Harlan frowned, puzzled. “What’s a count from Kestria doing here all of a sudden?”

Reeve hurried to explain. Count Ansel is here to apologize! He brought a contract, and he wants to sign the Joss deal with Mrs. Weston!”

Harlan was stunned. He stared, wide-eyed, as if he were hearing things. “Count Ansel; hicre to apologize? Don’t make me laugh. There’s no way.”
