Chapter 306 One Minute to Spare
Nora picked up a fountain pen and looked around for a table to sign on.

John was quick to take the hint. He turned around and bent over, making his back as flat as he could. “Here, you can sign on my back.”
The deadline she’d agreed on with Harlan was almost up, so Nora didn’t stand on ceremony. She laid the contract on John’s back and quickly signed her name.
Then, she handed the pen to Julian. “Your turn.”
Julian looked at her in surprise, but he signed the contract too. Then, he shook John’s hand. “Here’s to a great partnership.”
John smiled back. “Likewise, Mr. Weston. You have a beautiful and incredibly capable wife. I envy you.”
Julian wrapped an arm around Nora’s waist and looked down at her with a smile. “I know. Meeting her was the luckiest thing that ever happened to me.”
Count Ansel rolled his eyes at John, clearly irritated. “You lackey! Always stealing my thunder! You got Ms. Blythe to sign on your back!”
“I don’t think that’s the word you’re looking for,” John said.”
Count Ansel huffed, then turned to Nora with a big smile. “Ms. Blythe, let’s make another deal so you can sign something for me too. Just like you did with that old fox John. I want the same treatment.”
Nora had to bite back a laugh. The two of them were actually fighting over who got to be her writing desk.
Harlan stared, dumbfounded and wide-eyed, as if his whole world had just been turned upside down. He turned to Olivia and urged her, “Olivia, wasn’t Count Ansel here for you? Go tell him he’s got the wrong
person.
“Don’t let Nora take the credit and walk off with a contract that only got signed because of you!”
Nora had actually closed the Jostar deal! And Harlan had already shown his true colors and made enemies of Constance and Julian. There was no way he’d walk away from this in one piece.
All he could do was pin his hopes on Olivia and pray that Count Ansel was really here for her and had simply mistaken Nora for her.
But getting pushed aside a moment ago had been humiliating enough for Olivia. She understood now that Count Ansel wasn’t here for her. He was here for Nora. If she went up there and claimed he had the wrong person, she’d only embarrass herself more.
So she just forced a stiff smile. “Count Ansel isn’t here for me. He’s here for Nora.”
Harlan went white as a sheet and staggered back a couple of steps in despair.
Nora looked up and smiled at Harlan, waving the contract. “Uncle Harlan, you can go ahead and hand over all your shares now. Oh, and move off the Weston estate.”

Harlan refused to give up. “It doesn’t count,” he said through gritted teeth. “Time’s already up. You still lost.”
Nora pointed at the clock on the wall and scoffed. “We agreed on 9:00 a.m. There’s still one minute left.”
Harlan glanced up. Sure enough, there was still a minute left. He’d lost, and all his old fear of Julian and Constance came flooding back.
He knew when to grovel. He looked up at Nora with a fawning smile. “Nora, I was only joking about all that. Don’t take it seriously. It was all a joke! Ha-ha, so funny. Ha-ha!”
Harlan laughed at his own joke, but the room stayed dead silent. Everyone just watched him. His laughter petered out, and a chill crept down his spine, but he kept smiling, desperate to smooth things over. “Nora, I really was just kidding.”
Nora scoffed. She pointed at the things piled up outside the door, then at the pictures on the wall. “Taking down our pictures, throwing out our things… Is that how you joke around with people, Uncle Harlan?”
She eyed his neck sharply, then flashed a bright smile. “Then what if I twisted your head off and said I was only joking?”
She was smiling sweetly, but she said it so coldly that a chill ran through Harlan from head to toe.
There were laws against that kind of thing, so Nora wouldn’t actually twist his head off. But from the look of her, she wouldn’t think twice about snapping his arm.
More importantly, he couldn’t stand to hand his shares over to Nora, and he didn’t want to move off the Weston estate either. Harlan was kicking himself. He never should have crossed Julian, and now he’d made an enemy of him for life!
Desperate, he turned to Nora. “Nora, I wasn’t thinking straight. I was wrong. I never should have said any of that. We’re family, so please give me one more chance.”
Nora just looked at him coldly. “I gave you your last chance, Uncle Harlan. You’re the one who turned it down.”
Harlan remembered how confident Nora had been when she offered him that chanee, and how convincing. Even back then, he’d sensed something was off.
Now, full of regret, he slapped himself hard across the face, once and then again. “Nora, I was an idiot. I really was wrong. Please give me one more chance.”
He kept slapping himself as he talked, not holding back one bit. He hit himself so hard that the slaps echoed through the living room.
He was still her father, and Sienna couldn’t stand to watch. She turned to Nora and pleaded, “Nora, please give my dad another chance. I’ll do whatever you say from now on.”
Nora didn’t say a word. She just looked at Sienna quietly.
