Chapter 312 Mandy Comes to Gloat

Nora thought back to what Olivia had said earlier and frowned. “Bess, is there any of Julian’s medicine left?”
“The medicine Ms. Blithe gave him?” Boss asked.
“Yes.”
“Ms. Blithe always brewed Mr. Weston’s medicine herself,” Bess said. “She either made it here or brought it over ready to drink. There’s no written formula.”
Bess figured Olivia had done it to keep the formula away from Nora. Still, she was a little annoyed. Nora wanted Olivia’s medicine, but she kept going after Olivia.
Nora had no idea what Bess was thinking. “Is there anything left over from brewing it? The spent herbs, maybe?”
“No,” Bess said. As far as the staff was concerned, spent herbs were trash, and nobody dared let trash sit overnight. That counted as slacking off, and it could get their pay docked.
Nora frowned. “Never mind, then. You can go.”
Bess nodded and went back to work.
Constance gave Nora a puzzled look. “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with Julian’s medicine?”
After everything that had happened, she was as jumpy as a cat. The slightest thing set off her suspicions.
Nora smiled at her. “No, I just want to study the medicine Julian was taking. It worked for him, so maybe I can improve on it.”
What she really wanted to know was what else Olivia had put in it. She’d tasted a sip of it back then and identified nearly every ingredient, but there was one herb she just couldn’t place, and that struck her as
strange.
Constance breathed a sigh of relief. She didn’t want Nora to feel any pressure, so she reassured her, “No rush. Just let things take their course.”
Nora smiled back. “Okay.”
The photos were printed and framed in no time, and Constance directed the staff as they hung them up.
Nora noticed that the photo of her and Julian kissing had also been framed for tabletops. In fact, there were three or four of them.
She turned to Hattie. “Why are there so many of these?”
Hattie was arranging the frames. She looked up and smiled at Nora. “Mr. Weston asked for them. One for the bedroom, one for the study, one for his office at work, and one for the home gym…”
So he wants our picture everywhere he goes? Nora blushed, a little exasperated, but deep down, she was secretly

The photos had barely gone up when a maid came in. “Mrs. Weston, the younger Ms. Sinclair is here.”
Nora raised an eyebrow. “Mandy?”
Before she could say anything else, Mandy called out, practically dripping with glee, “Nora!”
Nora watched Mandy sashay in, all smiles, and gave her a wry look. “What are you doing here?”
Mandy glanced back at the furniture still sitting out in the yard. A lot of it hadn’t been moved back in yet, and some of it was old and waiting to be hauled away. When she’d walked past all that furniture on her way in, she’d nearly died laughing.
“I heard Julian got out of the hospital, so I came by to check on him.” She looked around but didn’t see him anywhere. “So where is he? Is he too sick to get out of bed?”
She gave Nora a reproachful look. “You should’ve let him stay in the hospital a few more days, Nora. What if something happens now that he’s out so early? How would you explain that to his grandmother?”
Constance gave a thin smile. “Ms. Sinclair, there are certain lines a young woman doesn’t cross with a married man. You may be his wife’s sister, but that’s all the more reason to keep your distance. Walking in here and asking about another woman’s husband first thing? Not a good look.
“Even a streetwalker knows to exchange a few pleasantries first.”
The smile froze on Mandy’s face.
Nora smirked, enjoying the sight of Mandy getting put in her place. “Julian’s perfectly healthy. He’ll definitely outlive you.”
Mandy didn’t dare cross Constance, so she just took a deep breath to steady herself. “I’m only here to check in for Dad. And I heard you made a bet with Harlan and the Weston Group’s shareholders, Nora. Is
that true?”
Nora saw the gloating look creep back onto her face and raised an eyebrow. “Yep, that’s right.”
Mandy couldn’t contain her glee. She was grinning from ear to ear. “I heard you didn’t fand the Joss deal, so the Weston family’s getting a new head, and the Weston Group’s getting a new CEO. And you have to move out of the main house?”
Nora nodded calmly. “Mm-hmm.”
Mandy pointed at the furniture outside. “Is all that from the main house?”
Nora nodded again. “Yep. Uncle Harlan had it moved out.”
Mandy burst out laughing, then quickly covered her mouth. She still had to rein it in a little in front of Constance.
It took her a while to swallow her laughter. Then, she put on a look of sweet concern. “Nora, how could you gamble with Julian’s future and the Weston fortune like that? That’s just so irresponsible.”
