Michael's voice was tight with tension. He had immediately contacted all the media outlets he knew, as well as the PR departments of major entertainment companies, to give them a heads-up.
He had even resorted to unconventional measures to forcibly request that all major platforms suppress related news.
As such, no one could have posted anything unless the person responsible was entirely outside his control.
In fact, that person may have been the mastermind behind the entire incident.
From behind his desk, Christian lifted his gaze from the files in front of him and fixed it on that piece of news.
His eyebrows gradually furrowed. It was strange how perfectly timed and targeted this post was.
From the very start, the target had not been Maeve but Annie.
First, they had paid off Lillian to accuse her at the hospital, and now they had released this slanderous post online.
It was one thing after another, all aimed at cornering Annie.
They were determined to shame and ruin Annie completely, leaving her with no hope of redemption.
What ruthless tactics.
Christian instructed, "Find them."
Michael immediately straightened his back. "Yes, Mr. Parker! I've already instructed the tech department to trace the poster's IP address. We'll find this person for sure!"
After a short pause, he gave a quick update on the situation at the hospital.
"There's one more thing. Shortly after you left the hospital, a woman claiming to be a janitor from Maeve's studio went to the ward and confessed that she was the one who brought in the allergen."
Michael cautiously observed Christian's expression as he lowered his voice. "But then she insisted that she was acting under Mrs. Parker's orders. Mr. Warner flew into a rage on the spot and had her taken to the police station."
She must have been asking for it for her to harm the person Christian cared for the most. Still, Michael thought that she deserved it.
…
Christian drove to Annie's favorite restaurant, picked up several dishes she loved, and returned home.
Annie was on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling, her mind still a mess. She was already aware that the news had started circulating online.
It didn't occur to her to question why the news hadn't broken right away or why the online reaction came only ten hours later.
She replayed the entire sequence of events in her head repeatedly, trying to find the clues she had missed.
But her thoughts were scattered, leaving her with no answers. She figured that she must have let something crucial slip through the cracks.
