Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 137

In the end, Cecilia still didn't get what she wanted. She broke down, hiccupping through her sobs as she clung to Sean's sleeve, her eyes brimming with helpless dependence.

Sean's chest ached, but he felt powerless to help her.

Helena stood off to the side, watching the scene with a cold, bored stare. She didn't step in until Sean had talked himself hoarse trying to calm Cecilia down. Only then did she step forward, seize his arm, and pull him out of the room.

"Enough. Stop acting like you're parting forever. She's not dying. Who exactly are you mourning for?"

Before he could protest, she led him firmly out of the rehabilitation center.

As he was pulled away by Helena, Sean looked back once at the tightly shut door, then lowered his eyes.

The drive home was unbearably silent.

Through the rearview mirror, Helena kept catching glimpses of Sean's dark expression. It fanned the fire simmering in her chest, but she wasn't foolish enough to let it erupt just yet.

Her usual tough approach had failed. Now, she'd have to try being softer.

The minute they stepped inside the house, she shoved Sean onto the couch. She switched to a softer, more patient tone. "Sean, be honest with me. Are you really that hung up on Cecilia?"

Sean didn't answer. He just stared at the floor, his jaw clenched so tight that it looked painful.

Helena sighed but kept her composure. "I know you're sentimental. But you've got to think about timing.

"Easton made his position crystal clear today. If you keep butting heads with him, what good is that going to do? When he tells you to get out of the Frost residence, he's not bluffing."

Easton had always been like Arthur—once he made up his mind, there was no turning back. They were both cold and ruthless.

Whatever Easton said, he meant it. And he would follow through without blinking.

"I'm not trying to push you. I'm trying to save you. You need to stabilize things with Easton first. Marry a woman who truly fits the family and secure your position."
