Annie had no idea what the Frosts were plotting. Her days were spent shuttling between EVL and home, with nothing in her world but work and the birthday gown she was pouring her heart into for Suzanna.
Finally, on the night before the banquet, she tied off the last thread on the gown with a clean, perfect finish.
"Done."
She let out a quiet breath and hung the gown up.
The moment Suzanna got the message, she rushed over in the middle of the night, practically bouncing with excitement to try it on.
"Wow…"
She stepped out of the fitting room, stunned.
The woman in the mirror wore a midnight-blue strapless gown that shimmered like a sky full of stars, its hem brushing the floor with a soft glow. The flawless cut hugged her figure perfectly, highlighting both her youthful charm and a hint of mature elegance.
"Oh my god, Ann, this is gorgeous!"
Suzanna spun in front of the mirror again and again, reluctant to stop admiring herself.
"Thank you, my dearest Ann!"
She charged over and wrapped Annie in a big hug.
Annie laughed and patted her back. Seeing her best friend this happy made every long night she spent working on the gown worth it. "As long as you like it."
"I'm obsessed!" Suzanna clung to her, rubbing her head on Annie's shoulder. "I swear, I'm going to be the most dazzling woman in that whole room tomorrow!"
Annie couldn't help laughing at her.
Then something crossed her mind. She casually asked, "By the way, your family's pretty prominent here in Jynston. What's the deal with Christian?"
The question made Suzanna freeze for half a second.
She inwardly cursed, having almost forgotten that her uncle was still pretending to be someone else.
