Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 146

Annie slowed her steps without realizing it. The awkward scene from that morning flashed through her mind again, and heat crawled up her cheeks.

She still didn't know how to face Christian, so she decided it would be better to leave. She quickened her pace, almost like she was trying to make a clean escape.

But as she passed the entrance to the marketing department's open office area, a harsh scolding rang out from inside.

"Look at you! You're a manager, and you can't even handle something this simple! Do you even want this job or not?"

Annie heard it clearly, and her heart clenched.

That voice was ripping into a manager.

But wasn't Christian the marketing manager? Was someone chewing him out?

She stopped, peering into the room.

A man in a suit, who looked like a department director, was pointing at a subordinate and tearing into him without mercy.

The man being scolded, his hairline slightly thinning, stood there nodding and bowing as he took it.

It wasn't Christian.

Annie let out a quiet breath, but the confusion only deepened. Christian had told her he was a marketing manager, so how could it be someone else?

The director seemed to have finished venting. He waved his hand impatiently. "Alright. Get out of here. If you screw up like this again, you can pack your shit and leave!"

The manager looked like he had been granted a pardon. He nodded frantically and scurried off.

Still simmering, the director turned around, stepped out, and spotted Annie standing at the doorway. He frowned, his tone sharp. "Who are you?"

Then, his gaze dropped to the badge on her chest, and something shifted in his eyes.
