Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 168

Helena couldn't believe her ears.

Sean was the heir to the Frost family and the Heartwright. He got whatever he wanted. How could he have tried to abduct Annie?

She figured that it had to be Annie's fault. She must have used some shameless trick to lure Sean.

That had to be it.

Sean had broken off the engagement, and Annie couldn't accept it. So, she was now trying to use something like this to tie him back to her.

Helena thought Annie was a scheming, vicious woman.

Helena's expression flickered between fury and pallor. When she looked at Sean, anguish clouded her eyes.

Jacob acted as if he hadn't noticed. He kept speaking in the same matter-of-fact tone.

"Mr. Easton instructed that Mr. Sean leave for overseas immediately and take charge of Project 22.

"If you care about him, you should pack his things as soon as possible, so he won't suffer when he gets there."

The words exploded in Helena's head.

Project 22...

That godforsaken place was so brutal that it could drive a person mad.

Was Easton really going to send Sean there?

It seemed that he was trying to kill Sean.

In an instant, Helena's blood seemed to freeze. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Seeing her like that, Jacob didn't linger. He dipped his head in a perfunctory bow, then turned and left the villa with the others.

"I won't allow it!" Helena snapped back, shrieking as she spun and tried to chase after them. "I'm going to confront Easton! How dare he do this to you!"

Right then, a hand reached out and weakly caught her arm.

Sean leaned against the entryway wall, breathing hard. Blood and grime streaked his face, hiding any expression.

"Mom, stop it." His voice was hoarse, worn down by a resigned exhaustion.

What was the point of making a scene?

Easton was ruthless. Once he decided something, no one could change it.

If she made a scene, it would only make things more difficult for both of them. The only thing Sean could do now was accept it, then find a way to stay alive.

Nevertheless, he believed that he would get his chance.

...

At Jynston General Hospital, Christian sat quietly to the side, worry drawn tightly between his brows.

Annie was still sleeping.

But the moment Christian remembered how that lunatic Sean had driven her into a corner and how she had gambled her life to fight back, pain ripped through his chest.

What he'd done to Sean was nowhere near enough.

Just then, a soft knock came at the door, and Michael stepped in. "Mr. Parker."

Christian didn't turn around. He only gave a small nod.

"She's here."

"Let her in."

Michael shifted aside, and someone rushed in like a gust of wind.

"Uncle Chris!"
