Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 169

Suzanna's boots thudded against the floor as she stormed in and marched straight toward the coffee table. She slapped both palms down with a loud crack and glared at Christian.

"What are you pulling now? Didn't we agree that if I behaved and stayed in that hellhole, you'd let it go? So, why did you drag me back again?"

Those days at the women's finishing school had been her nightmare.

She couldn't wear makeup, couldn't dye her hair, and couldn't dress the way she wanted.

Day after day, it was proper-lady lessons, etiquette drills, and flower arranging and tea ceremony practice—enough to stretch her patience to the breaking point.

If she hadn't been desperate to earn her freedom back, she would've blown the roof off the place.

And just when she'd finally gotten used to it, Michael had shown up and politely "invited" her out. Of course she was furious.

Christian turned slowly to face her. He didn't argue, and he didn't explain. Instead, he calmly slid the document Michael had just placed on the table over to her.

Suzanna shot him a wary look, then snatched it up. She barely read a line before the anger on her face froze.

"Ann?" Her head snapped up, her voice pitching higher in disbelief. "What happened? What did Sean do to her this time?"

Michael quickly stepped in and summarized everything in a few concise sentences.

"That bastard! I'm going to kill him!" Suzanna was shaking with rage. She clenched the document in her fist and spun toward the door.

She couldn't believe Sean dared lay a hand on her best friend. He was going to regret it!

"Stop." Christian's cold voice came from behind her.

Suzanna stopped in her tracks and reluctantly turned back. "Uncle Chris, don't stop me. I swear I'm going to—"

"He won't be a problem anymore," Christian said, his tone flat enough to be terrifying.

Suzanna froze, wondering what he meant by that. She turned to Michael, who gave her a look that said it all.

She immediately understood.

If Christian said that Sean wasn't a problem anymore, then whatever awaited Sean was probably worse than death. Her anger subsided almost immediately.

She thought that it served him right. That was exactly what a jerk like him deserved.

"Then, why did you call me here?" she asked, dropping back into the chair with far less bite than before.

Since Christian had already settled the score for Annie, there had to be another reason he'd summoned Suzanna.

Christian laced his fingers together and rested them beneath his chin, his gaze steady and dark. "Irene needs an explanation."
