Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 176

"Mrs. Steward Senior has been talking about you all morning," Gary said as he ushered them into the living room, where Irene was leaning on her cane, staring eagerly at the entrance.

"Ann!"

When she saw Annie, Irene's cloudy eyes instantly lit up.

Annie walked over quickly and steadied her. "Grandma, I'm back."

Irene clasped her hand and looked her over, terrified that she was wasting away. "It's great that you're back," she said.

Only then did Irene's gaze shift to Christian, who had been standing quietly by the side. "You're Christian, right?"

Her eyesight might be failing, but her judgment of character was as sharp as ever.

She looked Christian up and down.

She clearly remembered seeing Christian's name in the groom's column on the hotel's welcome sign.

The young man before her stood tall and upright. He had a gentle demeanor, and the way he looked at Annie was filled with a tenderness that could not be concealed.

She thought that he looked much more reliable than Sean.

A massive weight was finally lifted off Irene's shoulders.

"It was terrible of us to leave you alone at the wedding. I'm sorry." Irene patted the back of Christian's hand, her tone filled with apology and reassurance.

Annie's cheeks heated up slightly. "Grandma..."

Christian, however, just smiled warmly. "Irene, please don't say that. Ann had no choice."

He said her name so naturally and affectionately.
