Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 190

The doctor removed his mask and let out a long sigh. He said, "The surgery went well. The patient has a strong will to live, so he's pulled through.

"That said, his injuries are severe, especially in his legs. Both of his legs suffered comminuted fractures, so even after recovery, he may struggle to walk normally. We've done everything we can."

Standing off to the side, Michael took in every single word the doctor said.

Patient? Surgery? Comminuted fractures in both legs? That was a lot of information to process.

Suzanna felt the heavy knot in her chest loosen slightly after listening to the doctor's words. What mattered most was that Easton was alive.

She thanked the doctor, who quickly relayed a few instructions before rushing off. Only she and Michael were now left in the spacious hallway.

Michael's probing gaze made her slightly uncomfortable. She figured that there was no reason to hide anyway, so she pursed her lips and decided to come clean.

"I saved a man from the landfill in West District last night," she said, crossing her arms. "He looked like he was about to die, so I just saved him. Besides, he's not bad-looking, so it would've been a waste to let him die."

As Michael listened, he couldn't help but frown. A man beaten half to death, dumped in the West District landfill, and then conveniently found by Suzanna? The whole thing felt far too neat.

It was so convenient that he couldn't help but wonder if there was a bigger conspiracy behind the incident. Was it a meticulously calculated setup, aimed at Suzanna or Christian?

Always cautious and perceptive, Michael plunged into the countless possibilities. His expression turned grave, and his tone turned serious.

"This might not be as simple as it seems, Ms. Snyder. I don't feel comfortable leaving you to handle this alone.

"Let me stay with you. If anything happens, at least I'll be here to help."

Suzanna hadn't thought much of it at first, but Michael's guarded demeanor made her feel uneasy. She said, "Fine. You can stay."

In truth, she didn't feel like running around dealing with the complicated hospital paperwork anyway.

Soon, two nurses wheeled a gurney out of the operating room. "Family members, please follow. The patient is being moved to a general ward, so someone needs to handle the admission procedures."

Suzanna nodded and moved to follow the gurney with Michael in tow.

Lying in bed, Easton's face had been cleaned by the nurse. Although still bruised and scraped, his features were finally visible—sharp lines, a high nose bridge, and a striking handsomeness that showed even in unconsciousness.

Michael glanced at him casually—then froze, as if struck by lightning.

Michael nodded heavily. "Yes."

Suzanna was stunned. She only meant to do a good deed and rescue a handsome stranger for a bit of eye candy—so how had she ended up saving Sean's biggest rival instead?

It was such a small world!

Michael quickly reported everything in detail to Christian. "Mr. Parker, shall I lead Ms. Snyder away and… deal with him?"

He made a subtle throat-slitting gesture.

Christian raised a hand to stop him. Then, he lifted the bed covers and stood. "No need. I'll check on him myself."

When Christian walked out of the ward, Michael followed closely behind. When they arrived at the door of Easton's ward, Christian pushed it and stepped in without hesitation.

On the bed, Easton had just regained consciousness. He turned his head with effort toward the door, and when he saw who it was, shock flickered in his eyes.

Christian? What was he doing here?
