Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 192

Annie remained unaware of the dark, treacherous undercurrents in Jynston. She was focused on her design drafts when the desk phone rang.

"Come to my office, Annie." It was Linda's voice.

After setting her drawing pen aside, Annie stood up and curiously headed toward Linda's office.

Linda sat behind her desk. Her expression was as professionally neutral as ever when Annie stepped inside.

"I have an urgent task, Annie," she said, sliding a file across her desk. "The eldest daughter of the Jensen family in Siddleton is getting married. They've specifically requested EVL to design the main wedding gown, so this project is yours."

Annie was taken aback. The Jensen family account was one of the most high-profile commissions in the industry, usually handled by Amy Bates, the team's most senior designer.

"Ms. Lopez, wasn't Amy in charge of this project?"

Linda took a sip of coffee and showed no change in her expression. "Amy has taken emergency maternity leave. She's not feeling well and needs rest."

That explained it. Annie didn't press further and said, "Alright. I'll take it."

Linda nodded in satisfaction and pressed the intercom button. "Send Julia in."

Soon, there was a knock on the door before Julia Bloom peeked inside. "Ms. Lopez. Annie."

Linda gestured toward Annie. "Julia, you'll assist Annie on the Jensen family project for the next few days."

Julia's eyes immediately lit up. "Got it! I promise I won't let you down!"

Annie smiled and turned back to Linda. "I'll go pack my things then. We'll leave this afternoon."

"No need."

Linda stopped her and got up before walking over. Her tone was firm and final as she said, "They're rushing us. You'll head to the airport now.

"Buy whatever you need once you're in Siddleton and put everything on the company's account."

Beside her, Julia blinked in confusion and curiously leaned closer. Then, she asked in a playful, suspicious tone, "You're smiling so sweetly, Annie. Are you texting someone special?"

Annie's cheeks immediately flushed red. Instead of denying it, she shot Julia a little reprimanding glare and quickened her steps.

Julia giggled and hurried after her. After they stepped into the elevator, it began descending smoothly.

What they didn't know was that at the exact moment the doors slid shut, the doors of another elevator that was going up slid open with a soft chime.

Sean, with a cold, ruthless look in his eyes, stepped out. Amy, who was supposedly on "maternity leave", led the way.

She was pale, lips pressed tight, and the reluctance in her eyes was unmistakable as she walked ahead in silence.

Sean followed behind her and swept his gaze over the office floor.

Now that he was back, he would reclaim everything that once belonged to him, including Annie, who had heartlessly walked away.
