"According to a small-time leader under Dingo, Sean did go to their turf, and later Dingo personally sent people to escort him back to the country. This abduction is almost certainly tied to Sean, but he did it very covertly. At the moment, we have no direct evidence to name him as the culprit."
Christian slowly lifted his hand and clenched it into a fist. So what if there was no direct evidence? He didn't need that. All he needed was a name.
Sean had crossed the line. Since he wanted to do things this way, Christian would play along and make him regret it.
"In that case, show him no mercy. Unleash everything we have on Frost Group."
"Yes," Michael responded at once, his body stiffening.
He turned to leave, but he stopped abruptly. Something occurred to him, and he doubled back.
"Boss, one more thing. That time, to save Mrs. Parker, you mobilized the military district, and it caused such a stir. I'm afraid we can't keep it under wraps. As for her, once she wakes up, she may already know your identity."
Christian lifted his eyes and shot an icy look at Michael.
Michael's breath hitched, and the rest of his words lodged in his throat. He immediately lowered his head, not daring to say another word.
"It will be done, Mr. Parker," He said as he left at a brisk pace, not daring to linger a second longer.
In the hallway, only Christian remained. The chilling, murderous intent on his face slowly ebbed away.
He stood, walked to the ward door, and through the glass window in the door, quietly looked at the person lying on the bed inside. She just looked so weak.
After a long while, he pushed the door open and walked in slowly. Annie was still unconscious, her face so pale it was almost translucent. An IV was still hooked to her hand while her other hand rested quietly at her side.
Christian sat by the bed and gently held her hand. It was cold and completely devoid of warmth. It felt like someone stabbed him in the heart, and the ache was unbearable.
Only the mysterious young head of the Parker family in Jynston, whose influence was far-reaching, could have done something like this. He was definitely not a marketing manager or an admin in the CEO's office with an annual salary of over 300 thousand dollars. It was all lies.
What about Suzanna, though? She was Christian's niece and had called him "Uncle Christian" from the very beginning. Yet, they had different surnames. So, Annie had initially assumed they were distant relatives and hadn't thought he would be someone of this prestige.
But now, Annie finally put it together. This explained why Suzanna had never mentioned Christian's family in front of her—she was afraid she would give it away.
Annie slowly lowered her gaze. This whole time, the two of them had been in cahoots. Only she had been kept in the dark like a fool.
Annie's gaze must've been too intense, because Christian's eyes rolled beneath his lids before he suddenly opened them. The instant he saw Annie was awake, the exhaustion in his eyes was replaced by wild joy.
"Ann!" He exclaimed, shooting to his feet immediately and swaying a little unsteadily because he rose too quickly. "Thank God you're finally awake."
