Annie knew that when dealing with someone like Sean, retreating or avoiding him would only make him even more relentless.
Her eyes gradually turned cold, settling into a firm, unyielding resolve. She straightened, turned, and headed toward the Cardiac Surgery Department.
This time, she would strike first.
Since Sean had already been demoted, he no longer had his own private director's office.
Annie kicked the door of the shared office open with a loud bang.
The loud crash startled everyone inside. Several young doctors jumped, their files slipping from their hands.
Recognizing her as Sean's ex-fiancee, they wondered if she was there to settle scores.
The doctors exchanged looks. Tension was thick in the room.
Sean was the only one who sat motionless. He was as calm as ever. He didn't even bat an eye. It was as if he had been expecting her.
The air in the office grew tense.
A sharper doctor reacted first. He stood up and laughed. "Um… I suddenly remembered that I have a report to finish. I'll head out."
"Right, right. I should go check on a patient."
One by one, the others scrambled away, escaping like their lives depended on it. Someone even thoughtfully closed the door behind them.
In an instant, the large office was empty except for the two of them. Only then did Sean slowly lift his teacup, gently blowing on it before taking a sip.
He raised his eyes, his gaze sweeping over her with mocking amusement.
"Guess what would happen if I made the slightest adjustment—"
Before Sean could finish speaking, Annie spun around. Right then, the pent-up fury within her finally erupted.
She strode forward and grabbed him by the collar. Then, she yanked him up from his chair.
Her eyes were bloodshot with rage, glaring daggers at him. "Try it!" she roared.
At that moment, a soft, leisurely cough came from the doorway.
William leaned lazily against the door frame. His hands were tucked in his white coat pockets, and there was a roguish smile on his face.
"Well, well, well… What are you two doing?"
