Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 95

The shrill beeping of the patient monitor cut through the air. On the monitor beside the bed, Cecilia's heart-rate line spiked before flattening into a single line.

Cecilia lost consciousness, and her vision went black.

A nurse rushing past caught sight of the screen and barged into the room. "Doctors, I need help! The patient in Room 12 has just lost consciousness!"

At the far end of the corridor, Sean had just finished work when his phone started buzzing in his pocket.

He frowned when he saw the caller ID. As he accepted the call, the nurse's anxious voice came through the other end of the line.

Sean's expression shifted immediately. After hanging up the call, he rushed toward Cecilia's ward.

When he arrived, Cecilia had already been rushed into the ICU.

He stood outside the sealed glass doors, staring at the hectic silhouettes of doctors and nurses working over the motionless woman on the bed. For the first time, a crack broke through his usually composed facade.

Cecilia couldn't hold on for much longer. The bone marrow transplant surgery needed to be scheduled as soon as possible, yet he hadn't heard anything from Annie. He wondered whether Annie really planned to let Cecilia die.

At that moment, two police officers walked over to him, their expressions stern. "Are you a family member of Cecilia Lambert?

"We're with the city police. Ms. Lambert is a suspect in an online defamation case. We need to bring her in for questioning."

Sean turned around and positioned his body before the ICU door. He looked at the police officers indifferently.

"She's in a critical state, and she might die at any moment. If you take her away right now, you might as well be signing her death warrant."

But Cecilia would need to endure unimaginable pain from it, and the treatment would drain her completely.

Sean's fingers hovered over the keyboard for a long moment before he finally hit enter.

He had no choice. This was the only way to save Cecilia's life.

Sean placed all of the blame on Annie. He believed that if she had consented to the surgery earlier, Cecilia wouldn't need to go through such a painful process.

Annie's cool and defiant face flashed through his mind. Since she was busy planning her wedding, he'd like to see how she planned to pull that off without a groom.

Once Annie felt the sting of ridicule and everyone turning their backs on her, she'd have no choice but to come back to him. She would even beg to donate her bone marrow to Cecilia—provided Cecilia could hold on until then.
