The day after Roxanne's scandal broke, public opinion had shifted completely overnight.
Maeve had personally posted a long statement on her social media account. Instead of avoiding the truth, she had openly announced her pregnancy.
In a heartfelt tone, she shared how unexpected the news had been to her, adding that she chose to build a family to give her child a healthy, stable environment to grow up in.
Her entire statement carried the warmth and anticipation of a soon-to-be mother.
The comments online had shifted instantly.
"Maeve is such a kind person. It seems like the pregnancy is really just an accident. She's just choosing a different life for her baby's sake. Wishing her all the best!" one comment wrote.
"So, does this mean she's getting married for the sake of the baby? I hope he's the right person for her!"
"She's being so honest. It just makes the tipster look downright malicious."
"Congratulations, Maeve! I'm sure the baby is going to be adorable."
Words of blessings flooded Maeve's social media page.
And right in the middle of that wave of positivity, a breaking announcement exploded across the internet.
Parker Group and Maeve's studio had made a joint announcement. Parker Group was launching a brand-new high-end children's clothing line and had officially invited Maeve to serve as its global exclusive spokesperson.
The moment the news dropped, Maeve's popularity had reached an unprecedented peak.
While the internet raged with excitement, the EVL office remained calm. Annie clocked in at work right on time, just like always.
She had barely settled into her seat when the front desk called, saying that Amelia was there to see her.
Inside the meeting room, Amelia was nothing like her usual intimidating self. Instead, she slid a beautifully wrapped gift box across the table toward Annie, her smile wary.
"Ms. Steward, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding and for causing you trouble. This is just a small token of apology. Please accept it."
Annie glanced at the box but didn't reach for it. "It's nothing much. It's a good thing that the misunderstanding has been cleared up."
Amelia felt relieved when she saw that Annie wasn't upset. Clearly, Annie wasn't someone who held grudges.
With someone like Christian backing her, it made sense that Annie wouldn't want to hold a grudge with a nobody like her.
"Okay, Linda." With a nod, Annie returned to her desk.
Linda watched her leave, shaking her head in quiet exasperation. She never imagined that Christian would go this far for Annie. He created an entirely new brand, mobilized the group's resources for her, and kept every detail completely under wraps.
Linda shrugged. Playing along with the boss' schemes was simply part of the job, particularly since his beloved happened to work in their design department.
…
The clouds had cleared, and sunlight filled the room. As the workday drew to a close, Annie finished her final tasks, feeling lighter than usual.
Leaning back in her chair, she sent Christian a message, "Are you free tonight? Let me treat you to dinner."
It didn't take long before she received a reply. Christian had replied with a simple "yes" and a sticker of a character nodding obediently.
Annie couldn't stop smiling when she looked at the tiny figure bobbing its head.
She sent him the restaurant address and time, then stood to pack her things for the day.
