Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Nicole made a call to Christopher, explaining the difficulty she was facing.

“I wanted to go in and learn from them. Fine, I understand being denied entry to Nova Nine because of Mia. But now… What she’s done this time is completely unfair.”

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds, as if he was busy. Then, he finally replied calmly, “Don’t worry. I’ll handle it.”

That day, Amelia was working late. Nova Nine Technologies had just rolled out a new system for testing, and she had been running data all night, barely leaving the office.

At the apartment, Evelyn sat quietly, diligently working through her homework. She was tackling advanced math problems. Kindergarten assignments were far too easy for her now.

When the doorbell rang, Evelyn froze for a moment. She set down her pencil and walked to the door, but didn’t open it immediately. Instead, she checked the door camera.

Her small hand tightened as her heart leapt. Standing there was a man in black, his expression unreadable and cold.

It was Christopher.

Seeing her father, Evelyn felt a flutter of excitement. Was he here to bring Amelia home?

She pursed her lips and opened the door. “Hello, Uncle Chris.”

Christopher hummed, then flatly asked, “Where’s your mother?”

“She’s working late and hasn’t come home yet.”

He said nothing, simply strode to the sofa and sat down, long legs stretching out as he settled in.

Evelyn handed him a cup of water, but he didn’t touch it. He didn’t speak to her or acknowledge her in any way, either.

Evelyn sat back at her desk; she had lost interest in her advanced math problems. Her eyes kept flicking toward her father..

The cup sat there untouched the entire time.

Christopher wouldn’t drink the water she offered, yet anything Nathan gave him was met with a smile.

Evelyn said softly, “Uncle Chris, the water is clean.”

She meant he could drink it, and that there was no need to worry that it was dirty.

Christopher lowered his gaze to the phone in his hand, barely looking up as he replied softly, “Got it.”

Ever since she was little, Evelyn had tried every way possible to get close to her father. However, he had always

been distant.

Seeing his reaction, it was as if he couldn’t stand to hear her speak. Evelyn bit her lip and looked down. She didn’t attempt to speak again.

Hours passed. At midnight, the sound of a door opening echoed through the apartment.

When Amelia opened the door, she immediately saw him sitting in the living room. Her expression stiffened, and her face visibly sagged. It was clear she didn’t welcome his arrival.

The man sat with his legs crossed, exuding an elegant, cool composure. When he noticed her return, his gaze skimmed over her casually.

“You’re back?” he asked, calm and unhurried.

Amelia ignored him.

Her eyes

shifted to Evelyn, sitting by the desk, nearly asleep. Yet because Christopher was there, the little girl still forced herself to stay awake just to keep him company.

Evelyn usually went to bed by nine, and now it was far past her bedtime.

Amelia walked over to her and said, “Evie, go to sleep.”

The little girl nodded obediently, glancing cautiously at Christopher before slipping back into her room.

Once Evelyn was out of sight, Amelia turned to face Christopher, her expression cold. “Why are you here? Evie usually sleeps by eight-thirty, and you made her stay up with you this late?”

Christopher’s lips twitched. “I didn’t know.”

Amelia almost laughed. His words made it sound as if Evelyn had willingly chosen to stay up with him. Of course, he wouldn’t know any better. After all, he had never liked his daughter.

Christopher’s gaze rested calmly on Amelia. He didn’t seem to notice the anger on her face, nor did he care about Evelyn at all.

He spoke lightly. “Jasper refused to let Nikki attend the industry summit the day after tomorrow.”

“So?”

Was he here just to defend Nicole?

He didn’t flinch at her tone and simply said, “Give her a spot, and I’ll invest 50 million dollars in your mother’s project.”
