Chapter 101

Every word from him sounded so ironic to Amelia.

He was willing to spend 50 million dollars for Nicole’s sake

In the past, she used to indirectly hint to Christopher to help her mother’s company, but he never took her seriously and never extended any help. Yet now, he was being so generous to Nicole.

He had never bought Amelia a gift before, not to mention funding her investment.

He laid out his terms, not out of a desire for discussion, but out of a certainty that she would agree to it.

Given Amelia’s current situation, she was indeed in need of the money. In fact, the earlier she secured the funds, the better. Any delay was bound to be detrimental to the company.

Christopher smiled at Amelia’s silence and added to his offer, “60 million dollars. It’ll be in your bank account tomorrow.”

Amelia’s face turned cold and pale. He was blatantly humiliating her with money.

Yet, it was precisely what she was desperate for. He knew what she needed right now. His investment could resolve her current crisis.

Right after helping Tania snatch her investor away through underhanded means, he came and sent money her way for Nicole’s sake.

Amelia clenched her fists and took a deep breath. “Alright.”

It was just a spot for the summit. Attending the industry summit may not guarantee her such a huge investment. Her mom’s company wasn’t exactly well-known, after all.

Now that she had someone knocking on her door and offering her money, albeit in such a nasty manner, she couldn’t bring herself to reject it. The company wouldn’t be able to operate without these funds.

Her uncle was also in the hospital, and money was essential

The next day, Amelia received a call from Nigel.

“Madam, come to the office to sign the contract. The money will be transferred to the company account once the contract is signed.”

Amelia immediately made her way to the office building of Zephyr Group. At the hall of the office building, she was stopped at the door because she hadn’t made a prior appointment.

She called Christopher, but no one answered the call.

Amelia furrowed her brows.

Was Christopher fooling her? If it happened once, it would happen again. To help Nicole seek revenge, he was capable of anything.

“Mrs. Zephyr,” a security guard greeted her from behind.

Amelia turned around and saw Nicole all decked out in haute couture with a handbag on her arm. Her outfit looked gender-neutral, which in turn made her look very suave and chic. She smiled at the security guard, but didn’t say

much.

It was Nicole Randall whom the security guard addressed as Mrs. Zephyr.

Amelia retracted her gaze. Nicole was already so eager for the title of Mrs. Zephyr even before their divorce was finalized.

“Ms. Sinclair?” Nicole greeted her when she spotted her. She asked in surprise, “What are you doing here?”

The receptionist was stunned. “Madam, do you know her?”

“Yes,” Nicole nodded as she looked at Amelia. “Are you looking for Chris? Let me bring you up.” Nicole seemed to be able to come and go freely in the office as though the company were hers. Amelia smiled self-derisively. Christopher and Nicole’s relationship was rock-solid indeed.

She didn’t have any other choice right now. She needed the investment funds as soon as possible. Amelia followed Nicole into the elevator. Silence ensued, which Nicole soon broke.

“Please don’t mind them calling me Mrs. Zephyr, and don’t kick up a fuss with Chris about it. He’s already up to his ears in work as it is. They just like to tease me about it. Chris told me he married you in secret, and it’s hard for me to explain things…”

Her explanation sounded reasonable and very thoughtful toward Christopher.

Yet, that wasn’t what Amelia cared about. She ignored Nicole.

Nicole thought Amelia was being ungrateful, being hostile to her after she let her into the building. Why was she being so haughty?

When they arrived at Christopher’s office, Amelia was notified that he was in a meeting and told to wait.

So, she sat in a meeting room and watched the cars go by downstairs.

Christopher called her over to sign a contract and then left her there, treating her like she was invisible. She had long gotten used to his blatant disregard of her, though.

“Don’t sit here,” Nicole said as she looked at Amelia. “Go to his office and wait.”

Even in Christopher’s absence, Nicole was allowed to go in and out of it as she pleased.

“No need,” Amelia rejected her.
