Amelia knew her place.

Even when she was working as an assistant in Zephyr Grou, she had never casually walked into Christopher’s office. Each time, she would only be greeted by a look of disgust and annoyance on his face. All the more she wouldn’t just walk in without permission right now.

Nicole left, deciding not to force Amelia.

Amelia pulled out an ointment from her bag and applied it to her wrist. She was supposed to apply it thrice a day, but she forgot to do it this morning. It was very effective, and the wound on her wrist was getting visibly better after just a few applications.

Just when she was done applying the ointment and was about it put it away, Nicole came in with a cup of coffee. She keenly spotted the ointment Amelia was applying.

“Isn’t that the ointment I brought back from overseas? I was wondering why I couldn’t find it last night. So it’s with you.”

Amelia’s heart jumped to her throat.

She didn’t expect Christopher to be so rude in disregarding her feelings. He clearly knew how strained her relationship with Nicole was, yet he gave her Nicole’s ointment just to disgust her.

Amelia stood up and threw all the ointment into a trash can at the side. Turning to look at Nicole, she said, ” Christopher gave it to me, so it’s mine. Pick it from the trash can if you want it.”

With that, she turned to leave, ignoring the look on Nicole’s face.

She threw the ointment aside, just as she threw her man aside. Go ahead and pick it. What good would trash be?

Nicole stood stunned where she was.

After she snapped back to reality, her face fell. Was Amelia mocking her?

Christopher came out of his meeting and signed the contract with Amelia. After the contract was signed, Amelia said nothing and simply turned to leave with the contract in hand.

Everything went smoothly, and he didn’t ask her to stay.

The once husband-and-wife pair were now less than strangers.

During lunchtime, Luke came over to discuss future plans and fund allocation for Cloudway Technologies. The three of them sat in a private room.

“Chris,” Nicole said, “I almost forgot to tell you something When I saw your wife at the entrance of the office building this morning, I think she was stopped outside by the receptionist. That’s why I let her follow me upstairs. I saw her using the imported ointment and said something about it. I didn’t expect her to just throw it in the trash.”

Christopher took a sip of tea, his face unchanging. “Let her to as she pleases.”

“What ointment?” Luke asked,

“An imported ointment for treating wounds. That ointmen is invaluable, and it was hard to get my hands on it,” Nicole said with a smile.

“Huh?” Luke chuckled, reluctant to believe that Amelia threw the ointment away. He added derisively, “Amelia

Luke continued with his meal in silence.

“I received the invitation!” Nicole said when she saw a notification on her phone. “Thank you so much, Chris.”

Christopher looked at her and said, “You should have been the one attending it, anyway.”

She was capable enough to be there.

“I should still thank you. I’ll treat you to drinks tonight, but we can’t get wasted. Important things await tomorrow. I’ve got to make a mark in my career and surpass you,” Nicole said with a smile.

“How ambitious,” Luke said with an arched brow. “But given how outstanding you are, surpassing Chris isn’t exactly impossible.”

“Hahaha…!” Nicole burst out laughing. “When that happens, I’ll have Amelia come be my assistant. I like sweet and tender beauties like her. It’s a pity she ended up with Chris. Beauties like her should end up in my arms instead! Chris, are you willing to sacrifice her?”

“If she’s willing, then I don’t mind,” Christopher said.
