Chapter 103
That night, Amelia received a call from her mother, who informed her that the 60 million dollars had been transferred to the account and the project could be launched
Amelia pursed her lips, not expecting Christopher to be so efficient in transferring the money.
“I saw that Christopher is the investor. You two…” Claire asked hesitantly.
Amelia said plainly, “He splurged a fortune on Nicole just to let her attend Langley Group’s industry summit tomorrow.”
He had always been generous with Nicole.
Claire immediately understood what was going on. She took a deep breath and said, “This is considered a shared asset between you two as a married couple. How could he…
“We’ll talk about it in court,” Amelia said calmly as she stared at her computer screen. “I just want my share.”
She didn’t want an endless court case with him over asset division. She just wanted child support for Evelyn, an alimony amount commensurate with everything she had given to this marriage over the past five years, and a clean break.
Claire said nothing more. Amelia had always had a mind of her own since she was young.
On the day of the industry summit, the weather was great, with a high temperature of 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. It was officially summer.
When Amelia arrived downstairs, Jasper’s car was already waiting outside at the entrance. He would bring Amelia through an internal passage.
“Morning,” Amelia said with a box of takeaway in her hand as she opened the door to the front passenger seat. “I made breakfast for Evie in the morning and prepared a portion for you, too. Eat it before we head off.”
“So nice of you?” Jasper said with a smile as he took the box from Amelia. “I thought I’d have to go hungry this morning.”
After finishing up breakfast, Jasper drove them both to the venue of the industry summit.
Many guests had already arrived.
Jasper brought Amelia into the event. As they walked, he said, “Mr. Stewart will be here today to give a speech on the government’s behalf.”
Amelia was stunned to hear that. Mr. Stewart was from the National Space Administration. He was probably going to talk about the latest policies and direction of the government. She didn’t expect such a bigshot to attend the industry summit.
“I’m sure hordes of people will be fighting for a chance to speak with him. We need to find an opportunity to get to know him, too. The company’s future development relies on the support of high-ranking officials like him.”
The aim of the summit was for technical discussion and networking.
Amelia immediately caught on to what Jasper meant. They had to work hand-in-hand for the success of Nova
Nine.
She nodded.
No wonder Nicole wanted to come so badly. She was bent of brushing shoulders with industry bigshots like them.

“I think we probably won’t have a chance to meet Mr. Stewart today, but we can shift our focus to other people,” Jasper said. “The professor will be here today, too.”
Amelia was surprised by the news. Professor Hale was considered half-retired and seldom attended such events.
She said with a smile, “He’s here to support you.”
That way, the scale of his summit was almost comparable to that of political conferences.
The moment they entered the summit venue, they were greeted by various exhibition pieces from the industry.
Two of them were a fighter aircraft and a satellite navigation system that Amelia designed, both of which were at the forefront of industrial technologies.
Even until today, no one had been able to design something better than her satellite navigation system.
Amelia stared at the items on display and felt a wave of emotion as she thought back on those days of the past.
However, these exhibition items were not labeled with their designers’ names. She was but a mere student back then, and didn’t want to be in the limelight. The exhibition pieces were credited to Institute 511 instead. (1
These exhibition items were the first things that greeted industry players who walked into the hall, and they were filled with praise for them.
“Fighter aircraft no. 67 and Thousand Miles Satellite have truly paved the way for the aerospace industry.”
“Exactly. I wonder who the chief engineer was. Institute 511 refuses to divulge the information for fear that others might poach their talent.”
Jasper glanced at Amelia and said with a low chuckle, “Perhaps you’re the only one who can surpass yourself.”
Amelia smiled, thinking that his words were an exaggeration. Had she continued in this line back then, she would have achieved so much more by now.
She lowered her head.
She had let so much precious time go to waste.
Amelia took a deep breath.
