Amelia lowered her head and walked toward the washroom to treat the burn on her chest.

She looked at the red patch around her collarbone, where she felt searing pain just from mere contact with her shirt. She furrowed her brows, but knew she couldn’t do anything about her wound just yet.

She could only wait till the summit was over to buy some burn ointment.

Meanwhile, Jasper managed to catch the two secretaries and get their contact numbers.

Amelia thought that Jasper was excellent at networking and building connections.

After the summit was over, Jasper sent Amelia home. He was sharp enough to notice the red patch around her collarbones.

“Are you injured?”

Amelia paused midway while buckling her seatbelt. She said with a half-smile, “I’m fine. I just accidentally scalded myself. It’ll be alright after I apply some ointment for burns at home.”

The burn was obvious enough to be seen from far, and even Jasper noticed it.

Amelia chuckled self-derisively. Christopher probably thought she deserved it and simply ignored her injury. It

wasn’t that he didn’t see it.

“Do you need to go to the hospital to get it checked? We’ll be launching system testing tomorrow, and it’ll be physically demanding.

Jasper was worried about her condition right now.

Amelia had joined Nova Nine for close to a month. As the lead designer of the team, she was in charge of researching new systems to solve the issue of the lack of precision in space robotic arms in dealing with complex faults, as well as extending data probing of satellites in orbit.

Tomorrow was the first day of formal testing of the system

“Or perhaps we should postpone the test by one day so you can rest.”

Amelia shook her head. “I’m fine, really.”

She wanted to see the results of the system testing as early as possible, so that all the midnight oil she burned over the past few days wouldn’t be in vain.

The next day, Amelia sent Evelyn to her kindergarten.

She bumped into Anna, who was dropping Nathan off at the kindergarten, too.

When Nathan saw Amelia, he snorted and walked straight trough the doors of the kindergarten with his backpack.

Nathan’s attention was back on his biological mother, who finally wanted him back again. As for this ex- stepmom, he naturally couldn’t be bothered with her.

He would only remember Amelia when he needed someone at his beck and call, as though Amelia were his nanny.

Seeing his poor attitude toward her mother, Evelyn shot Nathan a look. She furrowed her brows but retracted her gaze as she comforted Amelia in her soft, tender voice.

“Mommy, ignore him. I’ll be your daughter forever.”

Amelia’s heart melted as she rubbed her daughter’s head affectionately. “Go on in.”

She saw her daughter hopping into the kindergarten with her backpack on her, a myriad of emotions bursting in

her chest.

She felt so thankful for her daughter.

After seeing Evelyn walk through the doors, Amelia turned around and headed to Nova Nine for the system testing. She was up to her ears in work all the way till night ime, and had to ask Winona for help to pick up Evelyn.

At eight at night, she finally emerged from the clean room for a dinner break.

Amelia heaved a sigh of relief. The test went very well.

The system was already deployed for use and was a one-of-a-kind patent both internationally and domestically.

Her algorithms were all very tricky.

Jasper looked at Amelia’s side profile and asked, “Now that the results are out, what do you feel about them?”

Amelia looked at him and said with a smile, “They at least prove that I haven’t lost my touch and am not a burden

to the team.”

Even Josephine, who had looked down on her when she firs: joined Nova Nine, now saw her in a new light.

Although this system was a breakthrough for certain technical difficulties and could be sold as a patent, it wasn’t that good and certainly had space for improvement. However, developing a system like this in such a short time was evidence of skill that surpassed most people in the industry.

They could push this as a project and continue their research and development on it.

Jasper called for a meeting involving everyone in the company.

“It’s been tough on everyone these past two days. Please bring your family members for the team building event over the weekends if you’d like.”
