Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Amelia hesitated for a moment when she saw that it was Dorothy calling. She eventually decided to answer it.

“Mia, have you been busy recently?”

Amelia said, “Not too bad.”

“You used to always come home to visit me, but not recently. Did you have a fight with Chris?”

Amelia didn’t know what to say. Dorothy was still trying to play matchmaker for her and Christopher, but she knew things were impossible between them.

She fell silent for a few seconds.

Dorothy seemed to sense that something was wrong and said gently, “Come have dinner with me tonight after work. I’ll book a private room.”

After work, Amelia packed her things and headed to the restaurant where Dorothy had booked a room.

Dorothy was already waiting for her there. When she saw Amelia arrive, she said warmly, “Here, come sit.”

After settling down, Dorothy handed her the menu. “See what you’d like to eat.”

Amelia took the menu from her and browsed through the items.

She was wearing a white shirt, and her sleeves were rolled up. Her hair was tied up to reveal her petite face and exquisite features, making her look both gentle yet distant. She also looked like she had lost some weight.

Dorothy’s brows furrowed as she stared at her. “Why did you lose so much weight?”

“Summer is here, having a poor appetite and losing weight is inevitable,” Amelia said with a faint smile.

“I don’t see you losing so much weight past summer,” Dorothy said with concern for Amelia.

She practically saw Amelia grow up, witnessing and remembering all the changes she went through over the years.

She had also noticed the changes in Amelia’s attitude toward Christopher.

“Is Chris treating you badly and making you angry?”

Amelia placed her order and put the menu down, shaking her head. “No.”

It wasn’t a matter of treating her badly or not. Christopher Had always been cold and distant toward her since the beginning. She simply accepted it, and her heart had turned cold,

She used to be blind to it, but was no longer obstinate about it anymore. Being overly devoted and obsessed with a man was bound to end in sorrow.

“What are you talking about?”

As they were chatting, Christopher entered the private room and laid his suit over the back of the chair, naturally assuming the position next to Amelia.

The cologne he was wearing filled the air in the room.

The familiar scent made Amelia furrow her brows.

She didn’t expect Dorothy to call Christopher over, too.

Come to think of it, Dorothy was always trying to play matchmaker, and such things used to happen all the time.

When Christopher walked in, he looked warily at her. He probably thought she was the one whispering things to Dorothy, causing her to call him over.

“We were talking about how your wife has been losing weight. Are you taking care of her?” Dorothy said.

Christopher turned to look at Amelia and held her wrist gently. Amelia lowered her head, instinctively wanting to pull her hand back.

She detested his touch right now.

Christopher didn’t seem to mind the difference in her attitude toward him. After releasing his hold, he remarked casually, “She did lose quite a bit of weight.”

He looked calm and collected.

Amelia took a deep breath.

He probably thought she was trying to play hard to get.

Christopher checked out the menu on the tablet and saw the items that were already ordered. He tilted his head toward Amelia and asked, “Don’t you like eating prawns? Why didn’t you order it?”

He decided to make a show out of ‘taking care of his own wife.’

Amelia thought he was very adept at pleasing his own grandmother, especially after honing his skills over the

years.

He looked just like a doting husband.

A pity that she was allergic to prawns.

The look on Dorothy’s face changed. “Mia is allergic to prawns, don’t you know? You’ve been husband and wife for so many years. Is this how you act as a husband to her?”

Christopher paused for a moment before turning his attention to Amelia. “I’ve never heard you mention that before.”

Amelia had a sudden urge to laugh.

They had shared a house and a bed for so many years, yet the number of meals they shared was pathetic. However, in every meal they shared, she had never touched prawns.
