Chapter 125
Amelia couldn’t do anything to stop Christopher from helping Nicole and her family.
All she could do was focus on doing what she was supposed to do.
Winona and Jasper read the news as well.
Winona kept a close watch on Amelia’s expression. The moment Amelia ended her call with Claire, Winona asked, “How can you be so calm after reading news like that?”
She gritted her teeth in anger.
“I wish I could hack that wicked couple into pieces! He took marital assets to support his affair partner’s business, while she’s blatantly assuming the position of Mrs. Zephyr and strutting her stuff in public. They’re both utterly disgusting!”
Amelia had already seen through both Christopher and Nicole. She knew she would only be miserable if she chose to be obstinate and obsess over them.
“Time is precious. Why waste it on meaningless affairs?”
Winona suspected that Amelia had lost her mind out of anger. Who could remain so calm seeing her own husband and his affair partner going places as a loving pair?
“If you ever want to pick a fight with them, remember to call me along,” Winona said.
Amelia chuckled, then chided Winona.
The skies warned of an impending storm when it was about time to knock off work.
Evelyn’s souvenir had arrived, and Amelia decided to head to her marital home to get it. She hailed a cab to send Evelyn to her kindergarten this morning to avoid the morning peak hour.
After leaving the office, Amelia hailed a cab and headed straight to her marital home. By the time she arrived there, it was about seven in the evening.
Amelia was about to get out of the car when the rain started pouring.
After making payment, she covered her head with a hand and ran under a roof for shelter. The rain came so suddenly, she got herself wet despite running as fast as she could.
Amelia shook the excess water away from her shirt and pressed the doorbell.
No one answered the door.
The cold night wind blew at her, and her wet clothes clung to her, making her feel chilly.
Amelia started shivering from the cold. There should be someone at home at this time.
She decided to go to the side door and open it with her key, but she found that the lock had been changed.
She stood stunned for a moment.
Chuckling to herself, she quickly accepted the reality that lay before her. The last time she came, the passcode to the main door was changed. Now, the lock to the side door was changed, too.
They were so heartless in changing something like this, yet why was he hesitating to tell Dorothy about their divorce?
Amelia decided to leave and come back again next time for the souvenir.

She got caught in the rain on the day of Adelaide’s third death anniversary event, and was already down with a cold. Now that she had been caught in such a huge storm, she could feel her cold symptoms worsening.
Just as she was about to leave, her phone rang.
It was Christopher.
Amelia paused for a moment and eventually decided to answer it.
The moment the call connected, his cold, distant voice sounded. “Drive to Nightingale’s Mist and fetch me.”
It was an unquestionable command, concise and to the point.
Amelia often received calls like this. As his wife, she would never fail to pick him up.
Each time, she would wait at the underground car park because he didn’t want her showing her face in public. She was nothing but a servant at his beck and call.
Amelia said coldly, “I’m not your driver.”
Christopher fell silent.
Amelia looked at the rain falling from the sky. “What’s the passcode to the house?”
She really didn’t want to come here a second time for the souvenir.
Christopher remained silent. Perhaps he didn’t want to tell her the new passcode.
“Or you
could let Anna open the door for me.”
Christopher asked, “You’re at home?”
At home?
How ironic. This wasn’t her home anymore.
“I’ll go after grabbing something,” she said.
“I’ll text you the passcode.” After hanging up, Christopher exted her the passcode as he said he would. Amelia looked at the unfamiliar string of numbers, which looked to be someone’s birthday.
