Chapter 127
Nathan thought that Amelia was surely out of money after leaving his dad. She didn’t even have a job. How would she have money?
His mom and dad had all the money in this world, and money could get one anything.
Amelia stared at the broken pieces on the floor, her eyes growing cold.
Nathan’s young yet piercing voice sounded next to her.
Anna stood by her side and started explaining on Nathan’s behalf. “Mrs. Zephyr, Mr. Nathan spoke without thinking twice. Please don’t take it to heart. Mr. Nathan, hurry up and apologize to your mom.”
Nathan scoffed. “Why should I? She needs something from me right now.”
Sooner or later, she’d come begging to let her cook and clean for him.
In the past, in order to usurp his mom’s position, she did all the chores around the house, and his dad would give
her money.
Once she ran out of money, she would come crawling back.
Amelia looked up at that unfamiliar, arrogant face.
“Nathan Zephyr, one day you’ll realize that money cannot solve any problems at all.”
Nathan scoffed. “Money can solve all the problems in this world. Do you know why I didn’t go to my great- grandma’s death anniversary? Because it’s bad luck! I’m allowed to not go just because I don’t want to. You’re nothing to me. What gives you the right to lecture me?!”
Amelia stood rooted to the ground, her back ramrod straight.
“Who taught you to say that?”
She turned back to look at Nathan, her aura intimidating.
Nathan’s heart skipped a beat, slightly frightened by that look in her eyes. He said in a low voice, “I’m not talking nonsense. It is bad luck…”
Amelia took a deep breath, trying hard to stop her entire body from trembling.
She had only left this home for a short while, and Nathan had become so nasty. What kind of influence was he under?
What exactly had Christopher and Nicole been saying in front of him?
She smiled scornfully.
All the more she felt that her decision to leave was right. She needed to jump out of this fiery pit sooner or later.
Amelia felt faint and dizzy. Her wet clothes were still clinging to her body.
A child would never have thoughts like that of his own, unless an adult inculcated them in him.
It was pointless arguing with Nathan over these.
She turned to leave.
Yet, the moment she did so, her gaze met with a pair of deep, dark eyes.
Christopher flung his car key into a basket at the door.

He saw Amelia’s pale face and noticed that she was dripping wet. Her clothes stuck to her body and were so see- through, he could see her undergarments.
He approached her, and Amelia could smell that familiar scent of cologne.
Seeing him back at home, Amelia had the urge to laugh. It was raining so heavily outside, yet he called her to go pick him up. He was clearly able to make his own way back home.
Was he just trying to torture her?
“Are you sick?” he asked flatly.
Amelia lowered her head, her mind in a chaotic mess. She didn’t say a word, her brows still furrowed at the sight of him in the house.
Christopher lifted a hand and gently touched her forehead.
Amelia was shivering from the cold, but her forehead felt very hot to the touch. She turned her face away and smacked his hand away, clearly detesting his touch.
He didn’t care much about her resistance, but said, “Go get changed and wash yourself up. I’ll get some medicine for you.”
“There’s no need for that. I’m never coming back here again.’
With that, she turned to leave.
The moment she did, she felt something draped over her shoulders.
It was a jacket.
Amelia wanted to pull it off.
“You’ve got to at least look decent in public,” Christopher said, hinting at how see-through her clothes were right
now,
“I’ll send you home,” he added indifferently, yet in a tone that wouldn’t take no for an answer.
She had already said that she would never come back here again, and he looked as though he didn’t care and pretended he never even heard it.
Yet now, he was offering to send her home? He had never shown her such patience and care since the day they got married!
Amelia pursed her lips and furrowed her brows. “No.”
Christopher’s phone rang, cutting her off.
When he pulled his phone out to take a look at it, the look in his eyes became tender.
At that moment, Amelia immediately knew who the caller was.
She turned to leave without any hesitation.
