Reborn Without You (Amelia and Christopher) novel Chapter 129

Chapter 129

Amelia reached out to rub her temples.

She lowered her head and said weakly, “It’s all over, and there’s no need to keep harping on what’s already happened. I’m almost fully recovered now.”

Her priority right now was to make sure the project was progressing well. She had to get it on track as quickly as possible.

If Amelia kept harping on the past, she’d only drown in all that sorrow. The past no longer mattered to her. What was more important to her was the present and the future.

Winona looked at Amelia and put her palm on Amelia’s forehead. “Are you still having a fever? Normal people would think about getting more rest at a time like this, instead of being obsessed with work.”

“So, did what I talked about online yesterday get carried out today?” Amelia asked.

“Don’t worry. With a boss like you overseeing the technical department and the progress we saw after implementing the technical proposal you drew up for us, the problem Nova Nine has been faced with for a long time was finally resolved.”

Amelia was relieved to hear that.

Winona went on, “Jasper wants you to get some good rest these few days. You have to balance between taking care of your child and working. Those two things alone already take up so much of your time. Not to mention that wicked couple who keep giving you problems all day.”

“They,” Amelia said flatly, “don’t matter to me anymore.”

Winona’s brows furrowed, looking unusually calm.

Amelia wanted to properly plan the trajectory of her career in the next few years.

If she wanted to be at the front line, she had to spend all her time in laboratories, research rooms, and even pull all -nighters outside of her home. A specific research outcome was the result of non-stop work that scientists devoted themselves to.

Amelia had been a true-blue workaholic the moment she joined Nova Nine, and the project suggestions and technical proposals she raised were far ahead of many researchers and doctoral students in the company.

Winona could sense Amelia’s passion and devotion for this industry.

“If you hadn’t chosen to get married back then, you would probably be working in a research institute right now.”

Amelia pursed her lips and smiled. “It’s not too late.”

She was way too calm. Winona worried that there might be something wrong with her mental state.

“Don’t be so tense,” Winona reminded. “Rest for one more day, and you can even bring Evelyn out for some fun. Coincidentally, I have tickets for an art exhibition which were very hard to come by. Take Evelyn there for a fun night of culture.”

Amelia knew what Winona meant. She was worried that she might get so tense and end up breaking down.

Winona continued chatting with Amelia, making sure she was completely fine before feeling at ease enough to leave.

After leaving Amelia’s apartment, Winona called Jasper.

“Mia’s ambition at work is getting frightening. If she had this drive in the past, she’d probably already be a bigwig

in a research institute. That bastard really dragged her down over the past few years.”

Jasper remained silent. “She needs to strengthen and equip herself before she can stand up against him.”

Amelia was very clear about that point. If she remained weak and vulnerable, anything could become a threat to

her.

Winona paused for a moment as realization belatedly dawned upon her.

Christopher had power and influence. To stand up against him, Amelia had to work a hundred, even a thousand, times harder than him.

If he was bent on making life tough for Amelia, she needed the confidence and foundation to fight it out with him.

The next day, Amelia finished up her work and brought Evelyn to the art exhibition.

The exhibition focused on ceramic pieces crafted by masters of intangible cultural heritage.

Winona was right. She should have done this a long time ago, coming out for some fun and relaxation. She wanted to expose her daughter to the diverse talents in the world, too. It may serve to cultivate her interests in various

areas.

In her past life, Christopher would always bring Nathan around to attend various events.

Evelyn, on the other hand, remained stuck at home, lacking the company and exposure she yearned for. This life, Amelia was going to make it all up to Evelyn.

The dazzling array of art pieces displayed in the exhibition all looked exquisite, vivid, and lifelike.
